Let’s get straight to the point, Twentieth Century Fox is arguably doing a great job with keeping the X-Men franchise relevant to CBM fans and the general audience. While it’s still a wait and see with their other Marvel franchise (Fantastic Four), recent promotional material have fans interested to see the film. Fox just went through the process of recasting most of the main X-Men characters with younger actors thanks to X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past. This allows Fox to continue and expand on the story of the X-Men. It could even lead to the all but confirmed Fantastic Four and X-Men crossover film! More on that later, but for now, let’s take a look at Fox’s upcoming Marvel slate:

- Fantastic Four (August 7, 2015)

- Deadpool (February 12, 2016)
- X-Men: Apocalypse (May 27, 2016)
- Gambit (October 7, 2016)

- Wolverine 3 (March 3, 2017)
- Fantastic Four 2 (June 2, 2017)
- Mystery Marvel Film (July 13, 2018)

Wow, look at that list! Amazing isn’t it? Just imagine the last “mystery” film actually being the talked about X-Men/Fantastic Four Crossover! The story being based on the X-Men V.S Fantastic Four Miniseries comic or something fresh for the modern day! Knowing Simon Kinberg (the Kevin Feige of Fox’s MCU) we’re sure to get something great!

So why would Fox’s MCU and Marvel Studios MCU ever need to crossover? They wouldn’t! The rights of the X-Men/F4 aren’t coming back home anytime soon because like Kevin Feige once said, “as long as they keep making successful films they’ll be able to keep those rights.”

But what if a future negotiation between Marvel and Fox could change that? Allow me to be more direct here and remind you about how Fox wants to develop a live action X-Men television series. To make this happen Fox would need the “OK” from Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios. Seeing how the big dogs at Marvel was recently able to strike a deal with Sony to allow Spider-Man to appear in the MCU, Marvel might have something up their sleeves. The Spidey deal was completely free, no money involved whatsoever. It was more of a give and give deal if you get what I mean? Marvel gets Spidey to appear in the MCU while Sony uses Marvel Studios to keep Spidey relevant (and to save their asses).

Fox and Marvel could strike a give and give esque deal as well! Marvel allows Fox to make the live action X-Men T.V. series while Marvel Studios gets to use ONE of their characters in ONE of their upcoming films. This way, no one has to worry about either of the Marvel Cinematic Universes being sabotaged.

Which character and what film you might ask? Well the one person who’s wanted to appear alongside the Avengers for the longest now is Hugh Jackman; The Wolverine! What film could make this crossover happen? Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 or 2! What do you think? Can you guys see this happening? After all, Feige was able bring Spidey home!

If Fox could introduce more colorful costumes and stick to the original material with X-men Apocalypse, then they could fit in the MCU... F4 I have faith no more...

You know what? I don't care how it's done and if it may never happen, I do want to see Hugh Jackman's Wolverine enter the MCU one day so we can have the Spidey/Wolverine bromance. I love Hugh as Wolverine. Problem isn't him, it's how his Wolverine is written at times but still all you need is someone to open the multiverse theory in a MCU film and in one of the multiverses, the Fox X-Men exist in.

But really, I just want Hugh as Wolverine in the MCU.

@DrDoom I'm trying to be neutral here! Haha, I think Fox is doing a great job with the X-Men as well but not everyone thinks that.

@DrDoom

Now I'm speaking from the GA's POV. Not a comic book fans POV.

When you look at the last 3 X-Men films with First Class, The Wolverine, and DOFP; it's fair to say they are doing a good job.

Reception to First Class was very positive and did semi-well in box office. I believe around 330 million.

The Wolverine was well received and did 3 times it's budget in BO. Budget was 120 million and it did like 420 million. I believe it was more profitable then MOS and IM3.

DOFP was very well received and we all know when it comes to box office, they did very well.

Again, speaking for the GA's point of view. From a comic book fan's POV, I see why people do have problems with the films but from the GA's POV, the X-Men films lately have been pretty positively received and done well in the BO.

@DrDoom

Well I understand that, I'm just saying that from the GA's POV they aren't.

My only problem with the Fox-Men is while the actor playing Apocalypse is well cast and is a big fan of the character it seems, I'm worried Fox will [frick] up the look of Apocalypse and that's a big no.

Whedon made Thanos look like Thanos. I trust Snyder would make Darkseid look like Darkseid but I don't trust Singer in making Apocalypse look like Apocalypse.

no, if marvel give the fox the ok to make a tv show i think they should looks for some of the cosmic characters back. if i would them i would ask for certain races (shiar, badoon) and characters (silver surfer, galactus, annihilus). IMO a deal involving any of these characters would be more interesting that seeing a random wolverine poping up in the MCU without the rest of the X men.

i dont think it was more profitable than Iron man 3 it might have been more profitable than MOS due to the budget difference, but iron man 3 made a huge amount of money.

While i am with everyone that it would be awesome. And yes Fiegie was able to get back Spidey (probably with some help from some lawyers from the big mouse). However... and this is were i think the problem stands.

As you say, the movies is doing a great job in terms of boxoffie. Plus... this is where the crusial point in which i think we will get X-men in MCU. Fox is not Sony. Sony is in the brink of bankrouptcy. I am not talking about just Sony Pictures but Sony as a hole. The only part that goes plus in some aspects are the Playstation department and that is not enough to keep a hole company with several diffrence branches alive. + Add to the fact that Amazing Spiderman 2 was a big dissapojntment in terms of boxoffice, and the only franchies that Sony owned by them self before this deal was Spiderman. Also add that Sony has some good relationship with Marvel. Fox and Marvel does not have any good relationship what so ever.

Fox is going great financially with their X-men movies doing great bucks at the box office.

The only way that X-men will get in the hand of the MCU would be

A) Fox stops doing X-men movies and the licence comes back like Daredevil did
B) Fox goes in the same situation as Sony is at the moment

Not happening as both are doing well for themselves, that unannouced 2018 film is likely a sequel to Apocalypse.
I agree with @Kinghulk the space sector has much more to be done with if they co-share stuff that FoX has no interest in using.

Plus Marvel's doing the inhumans in a very x-men vibe/style so there'd be no point to have them exist in the same universe just for one character.

I'm happy with First Class and Days so I'd be really cool with this...plus, Hugh kinda deserves it as his final sendoff for the character he's played for some many years, right? At least that'd be a nice gesture...

I've suggested a few times before, so I apologize for repeating myself, but I believe the most likely scenario Disney/Marvel and FOX work together is an "Astonishing X-Men" live action TV series with Joss Whedon as creator/show-runner/EP/head writer.
Both studios co-finance the series so it has a bigger budget for sFX/CGI and a good-great cast/crew. To get the most out the budget, only have 10-16 episodes a season, not 20+ episodes. And air it on Fox so it has the largest possible viewing audience. Or, if Whedon, FOX and Disney/Marvel want it to be more adult themed, air it on FX.

If there is one character from Fox I would like to see in the MCU its Wolverine. But I think Feige should go for the some of the more cosmo characters like Galactus to further the space stories.

It's plausible but i would not get my hopes up. I've always said that the X-Men would be great for TV especially since TV is setting up the same standard as movies

I want three things out of any Fox deal

1.Fantastic Four rights to revert back to Marvel(The X-Men as well but that ain't gonna happen for a long time,so I'm willing to wait.)

2.Avengers Vs X-Men would the biggest comic book movie ever!

3.Wolverine Vs The Hulk movie

I don't think Fox will let their Wolverine Cinematic Universe be changed for a TV Show. I don't want the X-men back so bad. I just want the Fantastic Four back, Reed Richards is a key member for the Civil War story and so is Sue. I really liked the Civil War story by Frank Millar, but because of this rights thing they include black widow and hawk-eye, and they didn't even have one sentence in the story. Plus Miles Teller is amazing and a very promising actor and will kill it as Mr. Fantastic. Oh and not to forget Doctor Doom, wich will help Marvel to make Avengers A.I.

IF this were to happen, right away I would say no. Only because how could they introduce him and keep to both the fox mcu and the marvel mcu timelines? If they could figure out a way to send wolverine to another earth 616 for example maybe it could work. But otherwise people would just say well where were the xmen during the attack on New York or where was Logan during ww2 with cap? It just doesn't make sense, unless you redo his entire character and make him an inhuman and just pretend like the xmen don't even exist. I don't know, it would be really cool to see but I don't think it will happen.

Mutants make the Inhumans redundant. No point in adding them except for the fanboy moments, like Wolvie vs Hulk or Black Panther marrying Storm.

The problem with getting X-Men back, is that so much shit would have to be explained with mutants and how they exist in the world. Like Marvel's already replacing them with inhumans, so if the X-Men were to be reverted back, they'd have to be inhuman or a "miracle" and that would [frick]ing suck. However, Fantastic Four DEFINITELY has a lot of potential but it's too late for X-Men to fit into the MCU. At least until a reboot of some kind.
