The X-MEN Suit Up And Assemble In This New Still From DARK PHOENIX

The X-MEN Suit Up And Assemble In This New Still From DARK PHOENIX

The response to the first trailer for Dark Phoenix has been more than a little mixed, but most are pleased to see the X-Men in actual costumes and we get our best look yet at those in this latest still...

At the end of X-Men: Apocalypse, the X-Men finally got superhero costumes which were pretty much torn straight from the pages of the comic books. It felt like a long overdue move, especially as Marvel Studios has proved that pretty much any suit can be successfully adapted for the big screen. It, uh, makes perfect sense then that those have been ditched for Simon Kinberg's X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

As you can see below, the team is now sporting uniform outfits which sort of resemble what we've seen in the comic books but arguably aren't quite as satisfying as the ones used in X-Men: First Class

However, the X-Men assembling alongside Professor X like this definitely feels like it's been lifted straight out of the source material and if the movie's trailer was any indication, this is the moment the heroes assemble for a showdown with Jean Grey. How will that battle play out? We can probably just watch X-Men: The Last Stand to find out but here's hoping Kinberg brings something new to the table.

@ALegendaryPanda - Same. They are taken straight from Morrison's run. I think they look great in live-action. Anything is better than Singer Leather...

@lvcl - Wait for the reboot ....I'm sure Feige is listening closely.

@L0RDbuckethead - I heard those suits are inspired from Singers leather

@PrecysePiere - Yep. I didn't even realize the X-Men Singer leather even had the X's on the chest. I just thought they were black textured.

The suits are okay, but where is Xavier's floating chair?

I like the suits... but it’s weird that they adapted the suits from the Morrison run that were inspired by the first movie...

Not a fan of "THOSE SUITS", but it doesn't matter because by the end of the movie the X-Men and Mutants are going to be wanted criminals.

@ThePeterCipher - The end of the movie, has the X-Men disbanded as the government hunts them down. They become wanted criminals. However, I don't know if that ending will change which is possible, but that is what I heard.

As for the suits, I like the X-Men suits where they have "variety" and not have every suit be uniformed to look the same. That's been done already, even if it looked nothing like the comics, Singer did that already. Not to mention, another rendition of the First Class suits.

Remember that glimpse we recently had of Cap’s scale-mail armor? That sure was cool.

Love the setting of this picture.

“Scotty? Would you and your friends like some lemonade when you’re done playing?”

“Moooom...! We’re about to face the ultimate power in the universe!”

“Okay, but don’t trample the azaleas.”

Those suits looks bland af. I don't care if they're from the morrison run but they're bland. Wish they'd stuck with the suits at the end of Apocalypse.

Dislike those suits. Very under detailed and strange looking. I wish they all different suits. Also what happend to apocalypse suits. I mean they were....ok at best but they were better than thuis.

@ThePeterCipher - THOSE SUITS I like. Sure they don't look really that good, but the idea there is spot on. Cyclops was damn near perfect, along with Storm & Nightcrawlers outfit. The color scheme in everyones costume matches entirely to their comic counterpart. Why not expand on those? Why take on the Morrison run? If it is set in the 90's, and he wanted an authentic 90's setting, why not "KEEP THE LOOK"?

@ThePeterCipher - Honestly, with the exception of Nightcrawler, I have to go with the newest suits. I’d rather have minimal design than bad design, and most of these look random and impractical.
CaptainElrond

@Chewtoy - I never said they were perfect, they needed work but....

They kept the characters feel and look for each chracter. It made them look unique at least when fighting. Not to mention they at least tried to be comic accurate, cyclops is nearly there. In the pic above they look like a bodsled team or something.

@ThePeterCipher - There's something really cheap looking about those suits. I don't think I'd be able to stomach a whole movie while they looked liked that.

There's hardly any effort put into what is being shown in that pic. I actually prefer the way they look in Dark Phoenix.
