X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX And THE NEW MUTANTS Seemingly Confirmed For Release In 2019 By IMAX

Despite conflicting reports about the future of Fox's X-Men movies, an earnings report from IMAX seemingly confirms that both movies will indeed be released in 2019 and we'll see them those giant screens.

With the Disney/Fox deal now official, rumours have been swirling about both Dark Phoenix and The New Mutants being shelved. However, more evidence supporting both of the Marvel Comics adaptations ultimately being released has now surfaced via IMAX. In its quarterly earnings report, the company listed both movies on its 2019 slate which indicates that they'll debut on the giant screens.

Things could, of course, still change but it certainly doesn't appear as if Disney will stop either of them getting a
theater run in order to distance the two movies from its future plans for the X-Men franchise.

Dark Phoenix was originally supposed to debut on November 2nd but was pushed back to February 14th, 2019. The New Mutants, meanwhile, was on track for April 13th before being moved to February 22nd, 2019, and then August 2nd, 2019. The delays come as a result of extensive reshoots for both of the troubled projects and we'll hopefully hear something official from Fox in the very near future.

@sickboy76 - but the moment the deal was approved by the share holders fox and Disney agreed to quietly cancel them both.

And as anyone knows once you've already put 200 million into a film you are now scrapping, you then add more money to do the upcoming reshoots in Aug.

They're gonna get released, but they're also gonna get retconned.

@BlindWedjat - but what if they're not. What is Feige merges them into the MCU.

I would live for the drama.

They have say "in Feige we trust" but they hate every Fox X-men.

@StormXmen123 - It's not impossible really, but it does seem unlikely to me. Maybe it's more of a hope than an expectation.

I will say though, this site will have a meltdown.
