A pretty wild rumor that 20th Century Fox may have scrapped X-Men: Dark Phoenix circulated yesterday, but a studio doesn't usually schedule reshoots for a movie they're not planning to release!

Revenge of the Fans have reached out to their sources and confirmed that Simon Kinberg and his merry band of mutants are set to return to Montreal next month to begin filming some additional scenes for the film. The reshoots are expected to go on through September, and whole set pieces are reportedly in the process of being constructed for the extra photography .

Earlier today we found out that the Disney/Fox deal had officially gone through, so that does make any future X-Men movies featuring this cast very unlikely . However, it seems pretty certain that Dark Phoenix is coming out.

@CaptainAmerica - yup. they said the same thing when I said GAMBIT WOULD NEVER GET MADE. But... eh... im right some times. Even if they finish the film, Disney will NEVER RELEASE IT. If they finish it before hand, Disney might ask them not to. Fox may release it just for some extra money, but this is only going to hurt the MARVEL BRAND, it's not going to be something Disney wants out there. period.

@IronGenesis - if it is to be the final xmen film in the franchise.

I hope it being reworked to be a conclusion to the franchise, no loose ends or setting up sequels.

What I would love (though would never happen).

The last scenes are a montage of the younger xmen cast on various missions throughout the years which slowly transitions into the original cast (Halle, Famke etc).
Over the top of this we have James Macvoys professor X giving a speech "mutants, evolution,blah blah, family blah blah" whihc slowly morphs into Patric Stewart's voice contains the same speech.
The last shot being Patiec Stewart in cerebro wiht the camera backing away towards the corridor and the cerebro doors close *fox xmen theme tune*

The most disappointing fact about Fox’s X-men series is the fact that they have continuously casted some of the greatest actors and actresses in their movie. shame almost all were wasted in the way their characters were written. im hoping they dont release New Muntants so they could still cast Anya taylor and Maide williams for different role or same ones but in the MCU. shame about Mcavoy and Fassbender

@aurorsand - I’d like to see Maisie as X-23 in the MCU. Maybe New Mutants could be used as kind of an audition for some the actors? Makes me wanna see it. Not in the theaters of course but I’d give New Mutants a watch before Dark Phoenix.

So it's a bit of a Schrödinger's cat situation, how can it be both cancelled and about to do reshoots at the same time? Is it because one of the articles was written based on material taken from a forum rather than any actual journalism? Oh yeah I forgot there's absolutely no one writing here that actually has any industry contacts.
