Yesterday's Valentines Day was not only a celebration of love for your spouse or partner but the coveted day also gave Hollywood and fans a better love and respect for "X-Men" actress Ellen Page

Yes Kitty Pryde herself who was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in the financial, critical and cult hit "Juno" as well as starring in Christopher Nolan's spectacle "Inception" took to the stage to share a confession to the audience as well as voice her support for all of the wonderful and amazing things the organisation does each and every day.

Anyway, this is just a quick article to share this news, this brave news so take 10 minutes of your time (and excuse the bad title pun) to watch the inspiring video below and support or CBM star Ellen Page as she now moves on to the next chapter of her life and hopefully it will help you to have a more open mind when it comes to LGBT issues:

Obvious or not it's a huge thing to do, you could be the most flamboyant or butch person and be gay but admitting it to the world, your family and you're business makes it no less hard or stressful.

Yeah homosexuality is more accepted than before but there is still a huge amount of injustice, bullying and discrimination against the LGBT community and so it should still be a great thing when someone in a position of influence bravely comes out like this.

I'm really proud of her. This speech drove me to tears.

I don't know about you but I see suicides of people being bullied so much because of sexuality that they take their own lives. I'm talking young teenagers. Especially lately with all of the homophobia in Russia, stories of people being beaten and forced to hide themselves because they are gay. Even gay marriage is still not a topic in some countries.

Sure being gay is more accepted but we aren't near full equality yet. Like with women's rights yeah it's improved a lot but it's still not equal in a lot of countries or even in the business worlds. Slavery, it still happens at alarmingly high numbers. All these situations are not yet at a stage of true equality.

Sweet. It's awful that this is still a controversial topic, so its great to see when people state their sexuality like this. Especially when it comes from someone within the film industry.

Soto I wish I could be as positive as you but even though LGBT people are becoming more tolerated (not necessarily ACCEPTED yet) in some places, in other parts of the world like Africa, Russia and also the US the situation is getting worse..

so she was like 18 or 17 when she did X-Men:Last stand? Wow. She's a good actress (couldn't stand her character in inception though :p ) and I don't doubt it takes a lot of courage to say something personal about yourself that others may condemn so well done to her.

so iceman is in a love triangle with lesbian and a bisexual lol
CherryBomb
CherryBomb - 2/15/2014, 7:56 AM

She's took a huge risk, any actor does. Every newspaper in the country could say you're gay and you'll still get a ton of work but when you yourself admit it, I have no doubt the roles come few and far inbetween. However, Ellen Page has been a very well liked actress by her colleagues and directors as well as fans so I'm sure this won't damage her career. I always found her believable in straight roles anyway, she has a wonderful down to earth charm to her like in Juno.

Maybe you've never been bullied or put down. But can you imagine being bullied every single day of your life for something you didn't choose to be, something out of your control? Imagine living with that and see how optimistic you'd be about life. Its our basic human instinct to want to live, to survive and for other people to drive someone to go completely against that instinct is a scary and horrible thing.
