KINGSMAN Star Taron Egerton Says He's Flattered That Fans Want Him To Play The MCU's Wolverine

Kingsman star Taron Egerton has responded to fans wanting him to suit as Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, describing it as "really flattering." Find out what else he had to say here...

Kingsman star Taron Egerton has been a fan-favourite choice to play Wolverine for some time now, and with Marvel Studios preparing to reboot the X-Men franchise, it makes sense for them to cast a younger actor who can play Logan on screen for just as long as Robert Downey Jr. starred as Iron Man.

Egerton became friends with former Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman while they were shooting Eddie The Eagle together, and while they didn't discuss that role then, how does the actor feel about it now?

"That anyone thinks I would be good for the part is really flattering," he told GQ during a recent interview. "I love Marvel, but it’s just fan stuff. There is no grounding for those rumours." Bizarrely, the interviewer asked if he's stuck a drawing of himself in the suit up on the wall (okaaaay...), to which Egerton responded: "No. Surprisingly, I don’t have any pictures of myself up on the wall."

It's not difficult to imagine Egerton playing the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Wolverine, and at just over 5'7", he's a lot closer in height to the characater than some of the other actors who have been suggested over the years. Whether Kevin Feige and company have taken notice of the support he receives remains to be seen.

Do you think Taron Egerton would be a good choice for Wolverine?

He was a great Elton John. But don’t see him in this role at all. Is it because he’s short and hairy? Even at his angriest I’ve never seen rage from him. He’s never seemed particularly masculine or intimidating.

Some fan castings are unoriginal because they’re no brainers. Tom Hardy IS Wolverine. Bernthal could do it too but it wouldn’t be different enough to his Punisher.

Oh totally spaced, I think Jensen Ackles would be my top pick. He’s an incredible actor that’s too good for that CW soap opera that Supernatural became. One of the most underrated talents out there.

He owes me ten bucks. Runs cross the street every time I see em “oh my my mom needs her prescription upper lip deodorant” I’m pretty sure that’s not a thing, and if it is, I need some! They haven’t switch the Parmesan at the mall since obama. Anyway. It’s ok. 10 bucks. Small price to pay to know who your real friends are. Speaking of which do y’all have 10 bucks?

He doesn't scream Wolverine to me

Then again, I've been pleasantly surprised by cbm casting before

He could do really well as Wolverine.

Alternatively...

@SnideCut -

Definitely think Shia would be interesting in the role and someone who has the intensity for it.

@SnideCut - I want Shia for Moon Knight but Marvel is never gonna bite, lol. He reminds me a lot of Pattinson in terms of acting caliber from a former teen star, just with a more eccentric personality.

@tmp3 - I really hope that rumor is true. Idc who he plays honestly,
just having him in the MCU is good enough for me 👍

I think he would be a much better Jason Todd over Wolverine myself. He can play the troubled character really well like jason and when he is mad its a more quiet rage like in under the red hood.

He's a decent actor, but I just don't get that sense of pent up intensity from him which some actors have (or can display easy, like Jackman did). Tom Hardy has it in spades for example.
