Logan will be the end of an era for those who have stuck with Twentieth Century Fox's X-Men franchise. The film will see the end of Hugh Jackman's 17 year run as Wolverine, which is a long time to play any role, much less a comic book character. While Jackman may have seemed odd for the part at first, his passion for the character and willingness to throw his all into the role has left many fans hard-pressed to see anyone else taking on the character in the future.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Jackman made it clear that none of his passion went away when making the final film. "There is not a frame of this film where I can't say I didn't put everything into it," Jackman said. "I couldn't have made this film if I didn't make the decision within myself that this was the last one. I just didn't compromise on anything. I was a pain to a lot of people, because I don't get another shot at this. This is a character I love. I owe my career to this character."

Jackman's co-star Patrick Stewart has also shared the screen with Logan as Professor Charles Xavier for the last 17 years; however, unlike Jackman, he was not quite ready to say a definitive farewell to the role or the franchise just yet. “Hugh has raised the flag that says goodbye. I haven’t done that yet,” he said.

Additionally, Stewart reflected on Jackman's stay, having made appearances in almost every X-Men film that Jackman was in. "His charm and modesty and likeability has never changed,” he said. “What has changed is the actor. His work throughout the franchise is compelling and powerful and witty and very entertaining, and I believe what he does in Logan is quite extraordinary. The aging, the sadness, the weariness, the borderline despair he exhibits coupled with that edge that has always been there is quite remarkable."

Logan
claws its way into theatres on March 3, 2017.

In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan's attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.

So he's definitely not doing a Deadpool team-up? Good.

@Valdez - Ikr. Hugh Jackman is great actor. If he's making this his last movie as Wolverine, then he should. I mean, what's the point of making this if he's gonna keep coming back to this role. This should be his last movie as Wolverine. If you understand what I mean. Loved his interpretation of this character.

Gonna be a tearjerker of a film saying goodbye to these interpretations of characters. Can't wait to see it!

He does owe his career to this character so you know he's gonna make sure his send off is done right.
