Leaked Image Suggests The Next WOLVERINE Movie May Indeed Be Rated R

An image from a booklet handed out by Fox at this year's Toy Fair plainly states that the "anticipated rating" for James Mangold's next solo Wolverine flick is an R. Take a look...

After the phenomenal success of Fox's R-rated Deadpool movie, many predicted that the studio might also go with the more adult rating for their next solo Wolverine outing, and if the leaked image below is anything to go by they'd be spot on. Special thanks to RayChaos for the sharing the image!

Apparently the pic comes from a pamphlet that was handed out to guests at Fox's Toy Fair presentation, and although it doesn't confirm the film will be rated R, it certainly suggests they're strongly considering it.

Wolverine 3

Though many fans would be very happy with this, it still seems like a slightly odd move, because the character has already been established in a PG-13 continuity and has amassed a legion of young fans that would not be able to see his latest adventure if it was rated R.

Anyway, we'll see how it all shakes out. The Wolverine seque will be Hugh Jackman's last turn in the claws, and is set for release March 3, 2017.

Fun fact, if Marvel ever reaquires X-Men, their Professor X, Magneto and Wolverine will be shit compared to Fox's.

@Yaf - Yeah, while many can debate scripts, directors, continuity... etc. of all the X-Men titles, the casting of those 3 characters by Fox might be 3 of the best casting decisions of any movie out there and would nearly be impossible to surpass. Okay, you might be able to beat Fox on maybe one, but all 3 would be tough. They would definitely have to make up for it on better scripts.

As if they didn't have enough problems getting the Wolverine solo films to make money already. Haha they learned the wrong lesson from Deadpool's success!

@PeterStarker - Are you talking about the movie that made $420 million on a budget of $120 million?

@Yaf - That's not amazing for CBM standards and they aren't going to even make that if it's R.

@PeterStarker - It's a very good box office score and that is a lot of money. If that weren't considered good, the first Captain America which had a larger budget and lower box office would not have gotten a sequel. Same with Thor which had relatively similar numbers to The Wolverine. This may shock you, but there was a time when Blade making $130 million on a budget of $40 million was considered a huge success.

@Yaf - Yeah I know and I don't disagree with you. I'm a reasonable person. Haha I just think pg-13 is a smarter move based on the fan base that's already been established.

@PeterStarker - That's a good point, but the way I look at it is Hugh created a young fan base sixteen years ago, and we've matured. Now it's time to let Wolverine mature appropriately.

@PeterStarker - It is a smarter move, but as @MortalKooley88 said, the original fanbase has matured.

Yeah after seeing The Wolverine, I can't imagine this team will think of a good reason for Wolverine 3 to be rated R.

@musim - There's an R-rated cut of the Wolverine, so I think they have a good reason
