It was in X-Men: Apocalypse that we discovered how Professor X lost his hair, but why exactly is the older Charles rocking some wispy strands in Logan? That's not a question I've seen asked a lot in recent months, but during an interview with Empire Online, director James Mangold provided some insight.

After saying that Hugh Jackman's Wolverine "kind of looks like Clint Eastwood in Unforgiven," he added that giving Professor X hair "could be kind of sacrilege" before explaining: "The theory was that he originally lost all his hair because it’s just too damn busy [in his head] to grow hair – the idea for me was, well, maybe there’s a little fringe on there, because things are slowing down mentally."

Considering the fact that the X-Men movies - and Logan in particular based on past comments - have played so fast and loose with continuity in the past, it's good to know that Mangold at least has an explanation of sorts for this change. It's one which makes a surprising amount of sense too, and for those of you who had been scratching your heads about this, at least you now finally have an answer!
