Little is known about James Mangold's sequel to The Wolverine, though it has been reported that the sequel will feature some sort of team-up between Hugh Jackman's Logan and Patrick Stewart's Professor X.

Regardless, The Wrap reports Michael Green is set to write the movie for Fox and is working closely with Mangold on putting the project together. Green is no stranger to the world of comic books after working on Smallville and Heroes, while he's one of the many writers credited for Green Lantern too. He also penned a draft of The Flash a number of years ago, but his most recent projects include the Blade Runner and Prometheus sequels.

Mangold's focus is now said to be on The Wolverine 2 (or 3 if you include X-Men Origins: Wolverine) after his next movie - The Deep Blue Goodbye - was put on hold due to an injury suffered by Christian Bale. This movie is still set for 2017 regardless.

How do you guys feel about Green penning the sequel/threequel? Sound off below!

Well...that's disconcerting.
Hope the last of the trilogy is the best one yet.

Not a promising screenwriter given his credits, but I have decent hopes for this film

Well it's unfair to just count Green Lantern as his main piece of many works. Especially if their were many writers on board that project. I'm more ambitious towards his credits of writing episodes of Heroes (which I hope was the 1st or 2nd seasons), Blade Runner 2 and the Prometheus (soon to be films). Hoping for the best though.

@TheRationalNerd

Green Lantern is Michael Green's only notable writing credit. That sends redflags already.

Green Lantern had 4 writers...he could have been one that just took credit for crap for the paycheck. Since he's got Blade Runner 2 and Prometheus 2, he's got to have some solid ideas.

Hollywood likes to hire cheap writers for first drafts, then bring in new people for rewrites. They did it with Gary Whitta on the Rogue One movie, they've done it on tons of other movies ... this stuff just happens.

Having said that ... the script for Green Lantern was total poo, as was the first draft written by Green, Berlanti and Guggenheim. It was maybe "good" back in 2006, when it was written, but that was before The Dark Knight and Iron Man. Superhero movies took a quantum leap after those came out.

Jackman as Wolverine is starting to look a lot like Depp as Captain Jack. I'm getting pretty tired of seeing it.

CONFIRMED: X-Men: Apocalypse creates an alternate timeline. 'Old Man Logan' happens in that alternate timeline. Professor X somehow fills the Hawkeye role. Miscellaneous mutants fill the other villain roles, and Fox changes a bunch of other stuff as well so that, as usual, we barely recognize the story. But I think it will turn out ok.

@Sophisticated - He gets more ripped due to previous years of working out and dieting. Also, with the age you reach muscle maturity as well. Which means you muscle fibers get tighter and while you weight goes down (which is good if you wanna be ripped) your muscles get bigger. That's why in DOFP he looked significantly better than he did in any X movies.
