The superhero genre is the most inventive and imaginitive it has ever been. Logan kicked off the year with an amazing and emotional neo-western. Wonder Woman shocked the world with DC's (critical) best since The Dark Knight Trilogy, and Thor: Ragnorok solidified itself as a sci-fi/fantasy comedy for the ages.

The BFCA has announced the nominees for the Critics' Choice Awards, and fans of the superhero genre will be pleasently surprised. Patrick Stewart, after playing Professor X for well over a decade, scored a nomination for Best Supporting Actor, and his Logan co-star Dafne Keen, who portrays Laura, was recognized as one of the year's best young performers.

Wonder Woman scored many technical categories, but what was most striking was the showing of Thor: Ragnorok. Chris Hemsworth landed himself a Best Actor In A Comedy nomination, one that many were not expecting.

And of course, all of them were nominated for Best Action Movie.

See if they win during the ceremony, airing on The CW on January 11, 2018

Somewhat unrelated, but if Wonder Woman wins anything at the Oscars, particularly over Logan, I'm gonna [frick]ing kill somebody.
