Sebastian Stan Says Hugh Jackman Has Been Thinking About Returning As WOLVERINE For The MCU

While Logan was the perfect swan song for Hugh Jackman's legendary run as Wolverine, it sounds like he may be having second thoughts, especially in the wake of Disney's proposed acquisition of Fox.

Most will agree that Hugh Jackman ended his historic run as Wolverine on the highest of high notes with last year's critically-acclaimed Logan, but now that the Walt Disney Company has officially announced its plans to acquire 20th Century Fox's film and TV assets, many fans have been clamoring for the fan-favorite X-Men hero to reclaim his claws and finally join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Now, while a Jackman return remains a longshot at best, especially after his emotional swan song, it doesn't look like that's going to stop current MCU actors (and his potential future co-stars) from trying to recruit the Academy Award-nominated actor into the biggest superhero universe of all-time. Following Thor: Ragnarok star Chris Hemsworth's comments earlier this week, Winter Soldier actor Sebastian Stan has now spoken out about a recent conversation he had with Jackman while sitting together at the Golden Globes.

When asked about the proposed Disney/Fox merger at Ace Comic-Con where he appeared alongside his Captain America co-stars Chris Evans and Anthony Mackie, Stan said "Recently, I happened to be sitting next to Hugh Jackman. I didn't know what other awkward thing I could talk about, but to be like, 'Am I going to see you soon?' I don't know, but he said a couple things to me and I'll just leave it at that. Otherwise, I think I'm going to get into trouble." He continues, "I asked him cause I kept thinking whether or not he said Logan was supposed to be the last Wolverine thing. He said to me what's probably been said out there that he's been thinking about it and it's on his mind. So, I don't know." Well, that's certainly intriguing, to say the least.

Check out a video of his comments below, starting at the 9:25 mark:

I don´t think that Disney spent so much money to do the same as FOX did.

They need to reboot and create a whole new team, the X-Men as a team not repeat the same errors again with solo Wolverine movies.

A well done X-Men movie could produce more than one billion dollar If MARVEL STUDIOS give us what we want...

@lvcl - To be honest it would be cool to see him returning with younger X-Men. Logan has always been older anyway.

BUT I also fear that would put waaaay too much focus on Wolverine (again) and forget about the rest just like the Fox-Men films.

It would be neat, but I'd rather them just recast. lol

Side note: The late Bob Hoskins would've made a terrific Wolverine back in the day. RIP

@TheRationalNerd - Someone said a few weeks ago chose Stephan Gram (Al Capone from Boardwalk Empire). He kinda of looks the part and reminds me of Bob Hoskins. Whoever they pick is gonna be really interesting. It’ll probably be someone we never thought of.

I've been thinking about a lot of castings, and I keep coming back to Antony Starr (Banshee) as the guy to play Logan next

@TheRationalNerd -

I wonder if MCU would shrink a good actor down like LOTR instead of finding a short guy...

matter of fact I wonder if they even follow the comic and find a short unattractive guy.

@auditore - Russel Crowe was Fox first choice before Hugh Jackman being cast and second was Dougray Scott.

@TheRationalNerd - that's not a bad pick. I always thought he would've been a fantastic penguin. Similar to the Arkham games' version. Have you ever seen that Jet Li movie, unleashed (I think that's what it was called)? Hoskins was like full blown cobblepot in that film.

@TheFamousJMC - He's been my pick for awhile now. That last season of Banshee is really what sold me on the idea. He's a good actor and is shorter that Hugh.

Hugh is great and all, but it is time someone else gets the job.
