Darren Aronofsky Is Now One Step Closer To Direct Wolverine 2

It is now confirmed that director Darren Aronofsky is in talks to direct the sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine!

According to Deadline, Darren Aronofsky is in talks with 20th Century Fox to direct Wolverine 2. It was reported (as rumors) that director is being considered to helm the Superman reboot, but Zack Snyder got that job, and also that Columbia Pictures is looking to bring Preacher to the big screen with Aronofsky directing.

From Deadline:

"I'm told that 20th Century Fox has begun talks with Darren Aronofsky for X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2."

"Aronofsky and Hugh Jackman have a close relationship after they made The Fountain, and Aronofsky recently met with Fox chief Tom Rothman to be sure he would get the kind of creative controls to which he is accustomed."

This could be true, since Hugh Jackman was recently asked if he is ready for Wolverine sequel and he said "Of course... We're coming back next March or April".

So, it looks like that FOX is gearing up pretty fast, and I'm sure Darren Aronofsky will at least try to direct a good Wolverine movie.

Christopher McQuarrie wrote the script and so far only Jackman is confirmed to return for the sequel. Stay tuned for the updates...

I'm sure he would make it far better than that last joke of a movie.

how about we give it to a director that has some real sense of "ACTION" not these directors that handle only dramas...really....the first one was directed by the guy behind Tsosti...which may be a good film, but that doesn't guarantee a good thing....someone who has a real sense of action and story deserve to direct these films

Great find Wolvie! I'm not too sure about this franchise let along, who should direct it. IMHO, I wish they would stop all the shenanigans and do an X-Men 4.

Hey, Aronofsky is a great director that hasn't made a "bad" movie yet so...fingers crossed.

If anyone can get the taste that was the first movie out of the worlds mouth, its (probably) Darren Aronofsky

It's crazy to me how good Jackman is as Wolverine and how horrible a movie "Origins" was. Aronofsky certainly has the chops to make a great Wolvie Movie. Hope it happens.

I found The Fountain to be extremely boring and slow. It had its share of visually appealing moments, but they weren't near enough to keep me interested in the metaphysical quagmire of gobbilygoo they were trying to convey.

I really don't see Aronofsky directing a Wolverine movie I just don't. And less alone one that follows that, IMO, dreadful XMO: Wolverine.

In my opinion, it doesn't matter who directs it, as long as Fox is involved it's gonna suck.

jimoakley666 @ I bet you LOVED BORIGINS too! : P

Sorry FIST A$$ has left a bad taste... I was looking forward to WOLVIE 2 even tho Borigins was one of the worst cbm's ever made. I'd be happy if FOX never makes anything X-related again, gave 'em a chance with X3 and then Origins, look what happened... IF ppl didn't put money in FOX's pockets... we'd get X-MEN back at MARVEL STUDIOS, [frick]ing shame I tell ya, we could have GOLD... I bet they BALLZ UP SILVER SAMURAI too.

As much as I too would love a decent Wolverine movie, I can't see it happening!

JAZZ @ lmao!

There is no possible way in hell that this film, with Aronofsky on board no less, will be even remotely close to being as bad as X-men Orginis: Wolverine! This is GREAT news!!! I hope we hear confirmation SOON!!!

as much as i want wolverine 2 to be great as his "japanese adventure" limited series is.

i've really lost all hope in this actually being any good.

fantatsic director doesn't mean fantastic film.

1.hulk(ang lee)
2.x-men origins wolverine(gavin hood)

the times it has worked is the dark knight & thor looks promising.

this film is gonna be ruined by fox & their lucky dip lottery of mutants.

deadpool72- I've never considered Ang Lee or Gavin Hood to be anything close to fantastic, visually speaking. There's a difference between an oscar worthy film and an edge of your seat action thriller. Ang did do Crouching Tiger but i find that film more of a story focussed film than a martial arts extravaganza. IMO, it doesn't hold a candle to Hero, Ip Man or even Iron Monkey.

I know that Aronofsky hasn't done any action thrillers himself but one thing about his talents is certain, and it is that his style is extremely visual, more so than cerebral. I think he could pull off The Japan Saga just fine. Well... at least better than those other two directors IMO.

Great Director, great writer this COULD be good.

and hopefully its better than "logan and pals" that we got.

personally I'd love to see a WOLVERINE movie and not a logan movie, we have yet to see one of the most Iconic comic book character wear his iconic suit. I get it it, can't be yellow, make it black, make him look kinda like a ninja with a diff mask.

can anyone tell me why the wolverine from the movies only fights by swiping his arms, yet has decades and decades of hand to hand combat training and animal keen agility.

@MarsAmbassador, I completely agree! Wolverine's internal struggle with humanity has always been his most compelling characteristic. If a movie focused more on that, rather than dozens of worthless cameos, we would have a winner.

@ shaman

you're right about fantastic was probably the wrong word to use, oscar winning directors would of probably been better.

oscar winners don't mean that they're going to make a decent comic book movie.
