We found out a few months back that Richard E. Grant had joined the cast for Hugh Jackman's upcoming The Wolverine sequel (check out Cassidy's post HERE). There is a lot of speculation (backed up by our friends over at ScreenGeek.net) that the British actor might be playing the live-action version of Mr. Sinister/Nathaniel Essex. Nothing concrete, but Grant's character is described as a "mad scientist type", so it would make sense.

So what could Richard E. Grant look like as Mr. Sinister? We recruited the help of the very talented Hamza Javed (hjaved.art) to create an exclusive portrait for CBM so that we could find out! The results are below and I think the image is going to please fans. Want to view a larger, high resolution version of the image? Click on it!

@Yaf - Nah, he was the son of Deed's great-uncle (the billionaire), so that would make them cousins.

@Omegacron - The son of Deed's great-uncle would make it his mother's cousin. Maybe it works different where you live, but where I am, your mother's cousin is generally regarded as your uncle.

@Yaf - that's weird. In the US, an actual uncle (in the biological sense) is the brother of your mom or dad. If my dad's cousin has a kid, that kid is considered my cousin. That's where the term "second cousin", "third cousin" etc. comes into play, although most Americans just say cousin without any kind of generational adjective.

@Omegacron - I've heard that reasoning for some rural more Americanized families where I live, but the idea is like this:

Your dad has a brother, that's your uncle. Your dad's cousin is essentially like a brother to him, so he's also your uncle.

It may be due to the high influx of Scottish immigrants in Canada in the 1800s or French influence. Maybe it's aboriginal influence, but still, feels kind of weird that you'd address someone whose like a brother to your dad as your cousin.

It'll never happen though, since the Marvel films make costumes "realistically."

Nah it's too accurate. Then again, if they're going the Deadpool route with this movie, maybe it's true.

@enhance - Well, this is the guy that directed the wolverine, and I liked Silver Samurai's look, I don't think he's gonna disappoint with Sinister's outfit.
