While interviewing 20th Century Fox CEO Tom Rothman at Las Vegas' CinemaCon MTV News brought up the hot topic of where the filming for Hugh Jackman's next Wolverine movie would take place. Just last week it was announced that James Mangold's The Wolverine would shoot in Australia, but Rothman informs MTV News that stage work will take place there, but location shoots would in be in Japan.

"I can just tell you on behalf of him, his goal is to make the ultimate, bad ass, berserker rage Wolverine," Tom Rothman says about star Hugh Jackman.

Plot - Logan beginning a forbidden romance with a Japanese woman whose hand in marriage is, unfortunately, promised to another man. Since Logan won’t take “no” for an answer, it puts him into battle with her father and her samurai-sword-wielding brothers and Silver Samurai.

The Wolverine will be directed by James Mangold (Knight and Day), the script has been written by Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects). Hugh Jackman will of course be back in the lead role of Logan/Wolverine, and the film will claw into theaters July 26, 2013.

Of course they will shoot it in 3D. Fox is going to bleed this franchise for everything it's worth. I would prefer they shoot in IMAX because the scenery of Japan would look stunning in that format.

@P862010

I agree. First Class and Rise of The Planet of the apes were my two of my favorite blockbusters last year (along with Super 8). It really seems like Fox has learned its lesson, and I expect The Wolverine to be great.

However if it comes out that they are going to shoehorn in more X-Men into this movie, I am out. I will catch it on Blu Ray because I have seen how that turns out. Here's hoping that the Wolverine movie actually focus's on Wolverine.

However I say it will be converted or shot in 3D because that is how studios generate more revenue from these flicks. They can charge an extra 10 bucks or so a ticket just so audiences can have the (dis)pleasure of watching it in 3D.

Seriously have you ever met one person that has said, "Oh boy, I really hope the movie is in 3D?"

Yeah me either.

@P862010 @RediculousFanBoyDemands First class was an ok movie but it was a complete butchering of the Xmen and made no sense eve in the continuity of the films

Wear The Brown suit with the mask and stay true to the source material of the Frank miller japan story and this could be a winner

good news. there were rumors it was going to be shot in vancouver or some crap, then australia but not japan. so good to hear it will be shot on location in japan with authentic japanese actors. we've already heard that the script is very solid, and obviously hugh jackman is passionate about this movie and character. to me he fits as wolverine the way robert downey jr. fits as tony stark.

I would like to see him in costume, modernized and tweaked somewhat. Maybe in a surreal dream sequence.

Wolverine doesn't need no stinking 3D. Don't do it

What Tom Rothman said, is exactly what we want in this movie.

I hope Hugh Jackman meets his goal.

like most i hated Origins and will wait to see this at home because i expect it to be average at best. would much rather see reboot to distance from current horrible movies. when will they figure out that many great movies are already written out and illustrated. 300, Watchmen, and Sin City are examples of movie success by not straying from the source material. Xmen sucked and I fast forwarded through half of Origins. Hugh Jackman is not the problem! Is it really so hard to make a movie based on one of comic books most popular characters? Origins should have been a reboot from the Xmen movies.

I'm not trying to criticize The Wolverine; I like Wolverine, but the plot sounds like a romance story, which concerns me.
