Jessica Biel Explains Why She Exited THE WOLVERINE

Her reason being a typical one, actress Jessica Biel recently explained why she had to decline Fox's offer to portray Viper in The Wolverine sequel, while doing press for Total Recall!

As previously reported, Fox's anticipated sequel The Wolverine began production today in New South Wales, Australia, despite the supposed leading female role yet to be cast. And while Russian actress Svetlana Khodchenkova is rumored to play Viper, Total Recall actress Jessica Biel was in-talks for the role prior. Having to drop the role, evidently, Biel recently explained to Collider the typical reason why she had to do so.

UPDATE: In a separate interview with Crave Online, Jessica Biel shared what interested her about the Viper role.

"That particular character was really cool. She was this vivacious woman who is thrilled about her own immortality, and it was interesting, that kind of persona, I thought, for a quote-unquote “villain” character. And I was really interested in the director, so it was worth the conversation."

Starring Hugh Jackman, Hiroyuki Sanada, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima, Will Yun Lee, Brian Tee and Svetlana Khodchenkova, directed by James Mangold, The Wolverine is scheduled to be released on July 26, 2013.

iron man 2 was god awful and we have seen iron man 3 times as a lead

LOL.

After the PURE SHIT that was Wolverine: Origins some of you have the nerve to crap on Iron Man 3 for following Iron Man 2 while stating that Wolverine will be awesome? LOL.

Jackman is an overrated hack with no film career outside of exploiting one of the most badass comic mythologies of all time.

The fact they are trying to hire a hack actress like Jessica Biel tells me all I need to know about the decision making process for this film.

The hype will get everyone excited. The movie will fail as hard as all of FOX's CBM's. Half of the fans are the rinse and repeat types. "I'm so mad the first one sucked so hard! They raped the origins of my favorite characters! It doesn't flow with the other films! Oh they're making a sequel??? It's gonna be AMAZING!" Give me a break. Give the rights back to Marvel.

Wasn't Svetlana Khodchenkova already confirmed for the role?

I do like Jessica Biel, she doesn't give up no matter how many crappy movies she's in.
I would've really liked her to be Viper.

So that Broadway career, many successful films outside of comics, and Australian theatre means nothing? Good to know.

Biel is good when she wants to be, check out her new movie The Tall Man..film itself is just average but she's great in it.

As for The Wolverine..we'll see. Mangold is good, but I'm still so damn disappointed that Aronofsky passed on it. Script is apparently top notch..I'll be cautiously optimistic.

Really? You are pointing out an Australian soap opera career as proof of great acting chops? Please just stop right now.

And what successful films has he made? Van Helsing? Kate and Leopold? The only thing I can think of worth a damn was the Prestige.

I could see her in a Witchblade movie, if they ever make it! She'd be a fantastic Sara Pezzini! Good age, proper looks, height, and her voice just seems fitting!

I'd like to see her take on a superhero role. I am glad it wasn't for FOX though!
