Wolverine 2 Moves Forward, March Shoot Date Planned

Wolverine 2 Moves Forward, March Shoot Date Planned

It looks like the deal is done and Darren Aronofsky and Hugh Jackman will be heading to Japan for the (hopefully) new and improved Wolverine 2!

We already had word that Aronofsky would most likely be the one to direct the X-Men Origins Wolverine sequel. Now Deadline are reporting that he has been (all but) confirmed to helm the new flick. I say "all but" because we still haven't head anything "official" from Fox or indeed the director himself. But Deadline are rarely off base and they reckon the wheels are in motion and they will be aiming for a March shoot date..

Darren Aronofsky's deal to direct 20th Century Fox's X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 is close enough that discussion has turned to shooting the sound stage portions of the film in New York so the filmmaker and Hugh Jackman don't have to inconvenience their families. A March start date is being eyed so that Aronofsky has time to open Black Swan and be available for the inevitable awards season obligations. When the New York scenes are completed, they'll head to Japan to shoot the bulk of the Christopher McQuarrie-scripted movie.

There are those that think Aronofsky is crazy to take on this film after the dismal reception the first one got. I suppose they see it as a waste of his talent and would rather he worked on something with more potential. I think a director like Aronofsky would only get involved in a movie if he was 100% certain of the material. Jackman has already given (arguably) his best performance working under Aronofsky in The Fountain. And if McQuarrie's script is as good as we have heard, I think we are in for a treat.

x-men origins wolverine 2 sorry i don't care how good a director is the film is handled by fox it will be.....A EPIC FAIL.

there is no way fox are gonna settle for wolverine vs silver samurai with a shit load of ninja's.

they will flood the movie with unrelevent mutants just like x-men 3,x-men origins wolverine & x-men first class.

a total crapfest.

Darren is a type of guy who would walk if fox tried to push him around.Fox and wolverine franchise need him not the other way around.

I'm very happy to hear this and am excited to see what he does with the film. The Japan saga is a great story and the combo of McQuarrie and Aronofsky should be epic!

Yeah frick fox!

But Aronofsky is good choice. I hope this ends up to be at least watchable. I was few minutes away to rip my own eyes out with my bare hands when i watched the first one.

The Villains should be The Silver Samurai (Kenuichio Harada), Bloodscream, Roughouse and Lord Shingen Harada

Mastermind (Jason Wyngarde) and The Hand wouldnt be bad villains either.

Well now we finally have a great Director working with the Wolverine Franchise.......and up to a certain degree it really doesnt mean a whole lot. Because if the script/screen play is a steaming pile of shit then it still will be a tough road to getting a good film made. Not to mention that the studio execs at FOX arnt exactly the brightest tools in the shed. The guy who can pull artistic control here would be Hugh JAckman ......Like Bruce Willis Did for Live Hard and Die Free......Kevin Smith tells the tale...in his

A Threevening with Kevin Smith : where KS reenacts Bruce Willis talking to some Jack Ass Fox Studio Exec where BW is telling the studio exec, this is how I want the story to go and the studio exec starts to argue with him and BW just says.....Hey I understand that but let me ask you a question .....Who else do you have to play John McCain?.....and that was the end of the discussion and BW ideas were green Lighted and studio stopped [frick]ing with him.

I was looking for that excript but I wasnt able to find it .......but its great moment where Artistic Control triumphs over the suit Nazis and their bullshit.

@Reasonnnn I really wish that I could be as optimistic and enthusiastic as you but I hate to say it but studios can churn out a CBM every three months but if they are complete pieces of Dog Shit then I would rather them not do CBMs at all.

Im a quality over quantity kind of Guy. Im not saying that ur not into quality but this is how I am.

@ everyone
Ok, im new and iv been seeing the posts everyone puts on.Why does everyone think that wolverine 2 is going to be better, look again at the comicbook movies fox has made especially the xmen movies they are complete shit and they stray so far from the source material, Laura Donner keeps saying the same thing that they are sticking close to comics when in reality they are not, if i were you I WOULDNT BOTHER WATCHING wolverine in theatres cause your just going to make the movie more money watch it on the computer or bootleg. Fox is not going to stick to the source material, and just because they choose a good director doesnt mean its going to turn out good for the movie, remember fox like to make it there film not the directors. Personally im not going to watch it cause i know they going to f##k with it and make it shit

Very, VERY good news. With a guy like Aronofsky on board, this has a high potential for success. Hopefully the script is as good as it's supposed to be.

Wow. I'm definitely not on the whole "Fox hate-train" most people are but I think you have to appreciate the fact that Fox is really taking this seriously. They obviously saw how much they messed up with the last one and to get a director the caliber of Aronofsky shows how seriously they (and Jackman) are taking this sequel.

Fox hiring Aronofsky to direct a Wolverine movie kind of reminds me of the decision by Warner Bros. to hire Christopher Nolan to direct Batman Begins.

If this is all true (and it seems to be)...bravo Fox, bravo.

it worries me how they say the bulk of the script. Fox like yeah you know a mutant like Forge, Xorn of Chamber. YEAHHHH just stick them in right there, they have nothing to do with the plot yeah the audience will love it (NO Fox, just no).

So this is actually going to happen, then? If they are going to adapt the Japan miniseries by Claremont and Miller, then where is the casting news for Mariko,Yukio, and Lord Shingen? And if the Hand do make an appearance, will it be as bloody as in the books,or will they just disintegrate ? Will they make Hugh Jackman learn martial arts or will it be wire-fu all the way? Will they actually put him in the brown and tan costume?Oh...You don't think they're going to shoehorn Daken into this?????Wouldn't put it past Fox....
