All the signs are pointing to the X-Men coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that's going to open the doors to some very exciting new storylines. We'll see characters sharing the screen in meetings most of us thought would never take place in live-action and while Marvel boss Kevin Feige will more than likely reboot the mutant heroes, there are existing versions fans would love in the MCU.

During a recent interview, Chris Hemsworth was asked on which Fox characters he'd like Thor to cross paths with and the first name that came to mind was Hugh Jackman's recently deceased Wolverine.

"I mean, Wolverine, just because I love that character, you know what I mean? I just love Hugh Jackman. Unfortunately, he died in the last movie, didn’t he? We can bring him back to life… Now that you’ve informed me that it’s a possibility I’m going to get on the one phone and try to coax him over or convince him and see if he has one more in him." It's just a shame this probably won't happen! After all, Jackman doesn't really seem to have much interest in returning to the role.

Throw in the fact that using the same Wolverine could confuse moviegoers (despite it being a huge box office draw) and this will probably never become a reality but stranger things have happened!

@GoodoleCipher - I just can't imagine MCU characters meeting Wolverine or Xavier or Magneto being epic if it isn't Jackman or Stewart/McAvoy or McKellen/Fassbender. If it's a new version of the characters, I feel it'd just be... standard as opposed to epic. Here's hoping it'll be multiversed.

@Yaf - I personally hope they keep some of the Fox cast but reboot the characters into the MCU (eg Fassbender will play a new Magento with an MCU origin and history). Fassbender and Macavoy are great in their roles and have so much more time to give (they could elastic ally play the, for the next 20 years).

The only "problem" would be it would confuse the general audience memebers. But I don't think that was the case. Firstly, it the age of the interenet they can do a quick Google search to make sense of it. Secondly, while we obsess about these films, general audience members don't particularly care about "cinematic universes and or continuity" they just there to see a good film. Even the xmen films themselves with they unrefined conintuy are proof of this. Hell, I think large part of the general audience think the xmen films are already part of the MCU because of the "Marvel Logo".

@StormXmen123 - I think the new mutants are a pretty decent cast aswell.

@MissCipher - regarding the New Mutants. I think they've got much higher chance of entering the MCU. The films doesn't seem to have any direct links to the main fox xmen series (like Deadpool). Thus if the film is successful both critically and box office wise. I can see them being retconned into the MCU, post "mutant reveal".

The benefit is the characters are really not that popular yet. That is to say Magick or wolf banes would be utilsied in in a core xmen films (eg replace nightcrawler). Furthermore, the xmen characters are just as big as the current MCU character list. They will likely never be utilised in a core "mcu xmen film" simply because then the cast would be too big (core xmen team + new Muatnats), and they would get any decent screen time. Meaning they would probably be in they would need to get their own film anyway.

@StormXmen123 - I agree, there is no real connectivity to the force films. Disney should iniate a drumbeat, pitter patters here and there and get to it.

Shouldnt happen, Hugh had the perfect send off

@dracula -

Does not need to be set after the events of Logan, if anything a more tragic idea of the audience knowing when he returns to his universe that he's going to experience all the heartbreak of having Prof X accidentally kill the X-Men and have all the trauma of Logan would be a nice way to end his crossover with the MCU.

@Scarilian - or we could get someone fresh. Short and grizzled. Hugh did awesome but we can get someone else just as great.

Sorry but we had almost 20 years with him and a proper send off. Its time for the next guy..................

Although the multiverse will be introduced so a long cameo in some Secret Wars movie would be acceptable

Dunno if it will ever happen, even for a cameo, but it's nice to hear these things! :)

Just do a multiverse, have it explained that all sorts of universes/realities exist where every possibility has played out. Give us cameos from previous Marvel movies such as Toby Maguire's Spider-man, Andrew Garfield's Spider-man, Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and even use it to tease the idea of other heroes from different realities.

We'd never have to see them again, it wouldn't break continuity, and it'd add another layer of depth to the idea of the Marvel movies so that watching all the previous films wont have felt like watching inferior or non-accepted versions.

It'd tie everything together;

• You liked Raimi Spider-man? Well in one universe that story played out
• Were you a fan of the previous X-Men? Well rather than being ignored they get acknowledged?
• Want to do a 'what if' scenario in future or further play with alternative realities? Well now you have an audience who can understand what alternative realities are via viewing each of the Spider-man film series as being a different reality.

Naaaa get some new blood in there.....no shame in that. The eventual meet up will still be insane, provided they get the right actor.
