Roger Friedman has been fired as a result of his illegal downloading and review of the leaked Wolverine movie!

The “was he or wasn’t he?” game ended Monday – Fox News said that it has fired Roger Friedman, While the brief statement from Fox (see below) made no mention of the reason, it’s clear to most that it was due to Friedman’s downloading an illegal copy and posting a review of X-Men Origins: Wolverine last Thursday.



Fox’s statement reads: "Fox News representatives and Roger Friedman met today and mutually agreed to part ways immediately. Fox News appreciates Mr. Friedman's 10 years of contributions to building FoxNews.com and wishes him success in his future endeavors. Mr. Friedman is grateful to his colleagues for their friendship and support over the past decade."

The review was pulled down shortly after a firestorm about it erupted, and unconfirmed reports that Friedman had been fired circulated all weekend, with Friedman himself telling some news outlets that he had not been fired.

While 20th Century Fox has said that it will make sure those who uploaded and have hosted the film on their sites will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, it’s unclear what the Studio will do, legally, to a former Fox News employee who tacitly admitted to downloading a copy of the film from a hosting site.

Meanwhile, TorrentFreak.com is reporting that X-Men Origins: Wolverine has been downloaded over one million times as of Monday.

I never download, but i do occasionally watch streamed movies online..but only stuff i have no intention of seeing in theaters anyway! Like DBE lol

I watched Half of the movie so far....

The movies okay...kinda better then I expect honestly.

SABERTOOTH is perfect in everyway....one of the best lines in the movie he says before he ruins everythign around him...

Bartender: You aint from around here are you?
::Sabertooth drawing a smiley on the table with his claws:: ....chuckles....What gave me away?
Bartender: Just different.
Sabertooh [victor creed]: You got insurance on this place?
Bartander: insurance?...uhhhh, no....why?
Sabertooth [hears wolverines yell from a distance]....Thats to bad....its good to have insurance.

Wolverine and him ruin the bar. :)

^ LMFAO....one of the best scenes in the movie....The movies okay...I will actually go watch it in theatres now...knowing that it isnt as bad as I thought it'd be...I still have the ending left....im actually going to WRITE ASPOILER REVIEW....I have my own personal copy now...I shall be passing those out soon :)

BTW, Ryan Reynolds does and awesome job as Wade/deadpool. But I'm still ticked off, that they changed the origins...I like how they explain how he got his name..and thats actually treu...they changed a few things and thats the disappointing part...that they could of always stuck with the comics....certainingm are easier to make then to turn into cluster [frick]...agent 11?...or the fact the deadpool is agent 11? ...The movie is decent. 2.5/5 stars.

My initial reaction is of great pity for Mr. Friedman, but at the same time he should've known better than to write something like that. It's always sad to see someone get punished for crimes that I am equally guilty of, but I've taken 6 years of journalism classes and have to admit that he's a friggin' idiot for saying that stuff. Survival of the fittest I guess, someone more apt will take his place. Good for them.

I could see if it was a crappy movie and nobody wants to waste their money but this is going to be GOOD and also what ever is up online is not even a finished version plus Fox is hunting down every single person who's downloading it so you could get IN TROOOOOUUUUUBLE

Why would you say that about anyone? the movie wasnt really unfinished...the only parts that were really unfinished were the CGI stuff. The movies not that great...Hugh Jackman...Ryan Reynolds ...Liev Schreiber all did a good job....but personally the movie COULD OF BEEN BETTER...

I dont think he deserves to be fired, primarily because he is the press, and he like anyone else can get a copy of the movie if they want. The movie is better than i expected...but it goes no where near Incredible Hulk, or Iron Man. Zero was such a waste of chracter btw...ugh.

Its funny when people or these fan boys get so MAD over a movie, that they are not even envolved in...its not like FOX cares about you. They shit on you once when they made daredevil, they shit on you twice when they made xmen 3.....and to top it all they shit on you three times and rub that crap all over your face when they made spiderman 3 :)

So Fox f*ck...and that guy is going to GET another job....and hell go out and do it again. LOL!

OH btw...if Fox really wants to prevent this from happening they need to watch their INSIDE MEN....its not like a crew production person stole the movie...it was someone from the inside...i read that in IGN. They had a source that said ....he would get copies before movie even came out....so if they want to prevent this type of stuff they need to fire who ever it is thats stealing...say the employees that take the movie home "and say their going to do their homework on it" when relaly their burn it for their friends and showing it to them at home ::cough cough::

i gotta say, i saw the movie, and it was just aweful. i mean, worse then the fantastic four and daredevil put together. Deadpool, gay. No Mr. Sinister. Wolverine and Sabertooth fighting together, a magic bullet, all just gay.

While I am advocate for free information and think that most of the crack downs on pirates are for greed, rather than doing the "right thing," I am glad Fox actually stuck to their guns for a change and toasted the guy.

First of all downloading movies is STEALING..Like it or not is true. You get something and the person who created it gets nothing. What is that? STEALING.

I come from the music world. where I come from many singers.really GOOD singers, have retired because of the internet illegal downloads. IS THE SAME THING IN THE MOVIE WORLD.

Imagine your favorite singer working at burger king because you and your whole town downloaded his CD.. That's sad isn't it?

Some people are stupid. They want to see something but they want it for free, not realizing that because of that other movies will be affected.

I am tired of wolverine frankly. I just want to see deadpool and Gambit. And was hoping for the spin off. Now because of all those douch3 bags that download the movie and stated talking trash about it and wont watch it at the theaters. the movie will lose money and there goes my chance of seen Deadpool and Gambit movies in the future.

I am mad about what they did to the Deadpool character, turning him into Baraka from Mortal Kombat. but still, I like that my favorite character is going to the big screen portray by the actor I from the beginning vouch for even before the castings. :D

I don't care if I'm not getting a cent from whatever money the movie makes I just like to watch my favorites heroes in movies, even if sometimes they mess them up!

Some people didn't like Daredevil,I did. Some people LOVED X-men 3,I DIDN'T!Some people loved Ghost Rider, I didn't but I enjoyed watching the effects :D

You don't want to buy the movie to find out after that it was bad? Go watch it at the theater or RENT IT in DVD

As for this idiot that gave the movie the review he deserves to be fired. Why? because he downloaded and reviewed a work in progress...That was unprofesional not to say stupid. Is like going to the rehearsal of a show and review the rehearsal and saying that they did too many mistakes... HELLO! is freaking rehearsal!IS PRACTICE! Go get sited and watch the damn show when is on the air!Then review it!


I HOPE EVERYONE WHO IS TALKING TRASH ABOUT THE MOVIE HAVE TO GET THEIR FOOT DOWN THEIR THROAT AND OUT OF THEIR @$$ after they see the movie in HD with the effects and all. I hope the movies gets to top Titanic and sink the damn boat all over again, so all those people shut the heck up!

Just so we get the Deadpool and Gambit spin offs. Is all I want.

I also reframed from downloading...and i dont buy boot legs.

To me its only $10 even if i cant stand the movie it cost them to make it.

Its like going to a resturant and ordering fried egg plant and cheese sandwich...if you dont like it its not their fault.

Anyway, Firing is a bit harsh, but at the same time he was stupid to mention / review the movie.

although i do like this article, i think that it exaggerates the story quite a bit. there is no way that they were so pleasant when the fox executives met with Roger Friedman, or at least i wouldnt be. and i dont really see why over a million people would even bother to download a movie about a character loved by so many people, especially when it is not even a finished version. that being said, some part of that group will still go see the movie in theaters. so, i totally agree with you icebergslick. Friedman TOTALLY played himself. he pretty much got himself in so much shit for pretty much no reason at all.

come to Canada where downloading movies and music is only illigal if your selling it!!!!

personal use is the excuse. thats right. you checking it out. so you know if you should buy the blue ray when it comes out.

or go take your children to it. ratings are flawed... must see first... then if it's ok take my 5 kids.

downloading is useful way of prescreening movies for single mothers. or large families. who actualy car what their children see.

it's the greedy corperates who say "thats a whole ticket extra i could have gotten if this downloading thing didn't exist"

but thats not true, cuase if mom didn't screen it she would not take us to see it at all.

(just to say my parents did preview movies or ask friends they trusted who already seen it. so skrew you fox)

and just to say. i watched it, loved it and will be first in line dressed like deadpool (swords and all) to see this movie. BOOSH!

so fox needs to chill. not every one is a douch bag emo kid who's going to skip out now that their idiot stone friend sold them the movie for 5 bucks

I have not seen this either. I have never downloaded a movie and the fact it was unfinished just sealed the deal.

To all those who did watch it, you have probably just wasted a lot of you're time and completely ruined a potentially excellent film. I doubt the version you saw will be the version released and most of you have convinced yourselves the movie is sh*t based on what may as well have been an episode of Fireman Sam you won't see the finished article!
