X-Men: First Class hits screens in the UK on Wednesday (June 1) and in the US on Friday (June 3) and screenwriters Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz have been promoting the film at the MCM Expo London Comic Con.

Recently we heard from director Matthew Vaughn that he only plans to put one new main character in the potential follow-up to First Class.

The Coventry Telegraph's Geek Files was at the Comic Con, where Miller and Stentz spoke to fans about the new film and gave a clue as to who the new character in the sequel might be.

Miller said: "We would like to introduce Cable. He's such a cool character and we haven't seen him in any of the films yet."

The writers also confirm that Sunspot was cut from the script and explained to fans that the film's status as a prequel meant that Cyclops and other familiar faces couldn't be included.

But the duo - who also wrote the Thor movie - said the X-Men comics had been studied and taken into account where possible.

Stentz said: "We looked at all the comics. For instance, we have a scene in the film very much inspired by Magneto's raising of the Leningrad nuclear sub, which was a very iconic moment. But this story picks up even before the first X-Men comic, it goes way back to the beginning."

In order to have Cable you have to have Cyclops and Jean which means if there is a sequel then Storm, Cyclops, Jean, and Beast are going to be in it.

I dont think marvel could make a movie this good, with the x-men. I mean marvel could make a pretty sweet cb movie that fans would like, but i look at first class is doing to xmen what begins did for batman and if it follow course of Dark Knight then we are gonna have one hell of an x men movie.

yeah that would be cool, but there is no point if cyclops & jean aren't in the movie.

you need them for the connection to cable.

@P862010 Stephen Lang would be my first choice also. Michael Biehn closely second.

He's an awesome character, but I would prefer it if they put him in the same continuity as the Deadpool movie because this continuity is too f**ked up.

So hell no!

Well if this is truely a prequel then cyclops and Jean wouldn't be in this for a while. Having said that, technically they have already been introduced in this series. Cable could be going back way before they were born to change other things but just because cyclops and Jean aren't in this movie doesn't mean they weren't there at some point to set up for him. He'll, he could be coming back to make sure Charles doesn't let Jean kill Scott in X3 or something.

@Firg - If they introduce Cable or Bishop, this will turn into Terminator.

Truth.

Reading the whole article, I saw that there could be the possibility of two X-Men film timelines. One during the 60s/70s and the other as a continuation of the "current" timeline. So, hopefully they can pull this into one solid story. Even though almost everything about Cable's backstory and early history is very convoluted, I'd love to see him bringing Havok back to his original time.

I want Stephen Lang for the Role He has the Acting Chops and looks exactly like Cable. No better Choice in my opinion.

I dont want Stephen Lang on this at all the perfect choice is and always will be...

Michael Biehn!!!

And I hope if Cable does show up it messes with the timeline and has it so this series can do what it wants like the new Star Trek film.
