Now that we're starting to get a near-clear glimpse of what to expect in X-Men: Apocalypse, based on the images and set pictures that were released, it's almost around the time to begin speculation of how or how should aspects of the film should play out. Important aspects of the film, and pretty much all of the films, are the visual impacts; in particular, the costumes/outfits the characters will sport in the movie.

The outfits of the characters have always been one of the most discussed aspects of the X-Men franchise, with most fans yearning to have their most notable and favorite X-Men characters don their traditional outfits as seen in the comics and in other media. In terms of the outfits used in this franchise, it's gotten towards the point in which the slightest nod to a traditional outfit would be highly praised, although Wolverine's traditional outfit almost made it in the final cut of The Wolverine. However, there is a way in which the crew behind the movie can manage to have the traditional outfits worn by the team prevail in this film while appealing to their reasonable and grounded style of design.

The path that the film is going on, particularly the era it's set in allows for the traditional outfits in the film to be worn. By traditional, I don't mean casual attire that subtely resemble the traditional uniforms, I actually mean the traditional uniforms; this is very possible. The first official photo may not have brought that much light to it, but the time period in which the movie is set, being the 80s, has a huge influence on the attire worn by the notable characters, allowing for more vibrant colors to be worn by the team. This shouldn't only apply to their casual attire since they will need to be wearing some suits and uniforms while in battle against threats such as Apocalypse and his Four Hoursemen. Just like in X-Men: First Class, the team sported uniforms that resembled the classic uniform attire for the X-Men. The only problem with those outfits was that they barely provided any variation just like how the comics do; they were all just blue and yellow. In order to avoid this, the X-Men, in this film, could have outfits tailored to their preference of style e.g. color, design, etc. For example, Nightcrawler has been seen with red and black, so that could be the style of his uniform; same applies with the other members. In terms of the veteran members i.e. Beast, he could keep the same uniform he had in First Class or at least an updated version of it. Cyclops, however, being the leader of the team, could also have a similar outfit to Beast, too. With this formula, pretty much nothing can go wrong and both sides, being the execs and the fans, will be pleased with this direction, since it's been done well before, only modified to stay true to the characters and the audience in which this film is being presented to.

Directed by Bryan Singer and written by Simon Kinberg, X-Men: Apocalypse stars Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Evan Peters (Quicksilver), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Lana Condor (Jubilee), Olivia Munn (Psylocke), Ben Hardy (Archangel), Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), with Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), and Oscar Isaac (Apocalypse). The movie will debut in theaters on May 27, 2016.

This movie has more potential to be great than Civil War, just based on story.

I hope they really explore the civil rights aspect of this. I wanna see The Brotherhood be more like a terrorist group than super villains. Imagine the riots happening in Baltimore right now with superpowers peolple as the rioters. That's what I wanna see.

Prof. X is Martin Luther King

Magneto is a pre Mecca trip Malcolm X.

You're definitely not kidding here.
Hopefully the unitards, leotards & leggings don't look too much like cosplay.
Would be nice to see different colored suits.
Can't wait for this era:

For me, this version of Cyclops uniform is the best. Head covered and visor glowing ruby quartz red! Not the Nomad headpiece.

i think we can safely say for sure that they aren't going to just lift something from the comics, they will ultimately adapt something that is inspired by various costumes in the comics but is its own thing (for the most part). personally id be fine with potentially abandoning uniforms altogether and opting instead for even something like regular clothes. they often dont explain where the uniforms come from, they typically just kind of appear at some point in the 2nd half of a movie and some of these bad costumes can be very distracting to me

The X-Men uniforms suck and couldn't work in a film in my opinion. First Class was an exception. Besides that, great article. Thumbed.
