1. I know shes Jennifer Lawrence but...
Congrats to the new star of Hollywood, not only has Jennifer Lawrence won an Oscar for best actrees, she is now the star of a huge franchise in The Hunger Games, but what i don't want is Jennifer to be the focus, What i'm saying is i don't want Mystique to be a major character just because Lawrence is playing her, if Mystique is a major character, so be it. But dont make her the main character because of star power. Let's not pull a Storm ok?

2. Comic Book Costumes Kick Ass
Ok so since Bryan Singer's first X-Men film, comic book movies have taken more practial looking costumes, Nolan's Dark Knight films are a huge example. But since last years Avengers and The Amazing Spider-Man, audiences have seen that comic book suits are awesome, so why can't we have Wolverine in a yellow and blue suit? Heck i'd take the brown and yellow suit at this stage. Enough with the Leather suits!

3. Use CGI if need be
CGI has become Hollywood's best friend over the last 10 years, but for some reason Hollywood uses CGI for setting instead of giving us characters like the comics. While I understand X-Men First Class was an origin story (kinda) now we have a sequel and we can have characters like Beast do something, so instead of making Beast look weird jumping around why not use CGI on Beast and make him look authentic?

4. Can the First Class actually be in it?
While I would have rather had Matthew Vaughn return to helm the sequel, i am happy Singer is his replacement. But, Singer over the years of X-Films has forgotten the point of the X-Men.. Youth. Yes, we're glad to have Hugh Jackman back, but we'd also like to see the torch passed in the present day timeline to the younger generation in a genuine way. Whether that's an appearance by a New Mutants squad at the end setting up a continuation of the franchise, or simply Kitty, Iceman and Colossus (if he ends up in the film) stepping up in a big way, its time for the first class and the master class to step aside for a new, younger class.

5. Bring The Humor
What is this new rule in CBM's that only one guy can be funny? I mean in Avengers Iron Man was the funny guy, in TDKR Alfred gave us a chuckle, In TASM Captain Stacy was pretty funny. Why can't we have everyone be funny? while i don't want a comedy X-Men movie, i think we should let every character have a moment of happiness instead of a sad Mutant movie.

6. Sentinels...
The Sentinels are the face of mutant hatred. With Peter Dinklege being casted in the film i have a feeling he will be playing the man who creates the Sentinels. In Bryan Singer's inaugural X-Men movie, the Sentinels appeared in an early draft but were cut, apparently for budgetary reasons. They were also planned for X2, but were excised with only the barest traces left: a mention of Project Wideawake on a computer screen, and sketches for them in the extras of the DVD. In the third movie, X-Men: The Last Stand, we saw a Sentinel on the screen for the first time, but it was merely a Danger Room simulation with only a head visible.

7. Cameo does not equal Story
Since it was announced that Bryan Singer was returning to the X-Men franchise and adapting "Days of Future Past," we've been inundated with welcomed news of returning cast members from both the original trilogy and the X-Men: First Class movie. But with eleven returning actors confirmed, along with debuts from Peter Dinklage and Omar Sy, it leads some to worry that this stage may not be able to hold them all. While i do not doubt Bryan Singer, considering he gave us the fantastic X2 which has 2x the actors in this film, i have my worrys but i have faith... Don't [frick] this up please.

8. Make Time Travel Simple and Easy to Understand
Ok, so general audiences are not really that smart. I have met people who think Batman and Spider-Man are owned by the same company, so they don't exactly know much. X:DOFP has taken a huge risk, making older memebers of the new cast return can really and will really confuse some audience members, so please Singer and Co. Make the time travel simple to understand dont make it some Inception style movie.

9. Don't Mix Classic Story Lines
X-Men: The Last Stand nearly killed the franchise. They had so very many good ideas, so many great stories to pull from - some real classics. You had elements of stories from Joss Whedon, and Chris Claremont, and characters fans desperately wanted to see. And it was all crammed together in one disjointed movie. X-Men: Origins: Wolverine went a step further and so dramatically altered a character that they forgot the guy known as "the merc with the mouth" needed... you know, a mouth. When you try to please everyone, you wind up pleasing no one. X-Men: First Class saved you. Don't pay them back by making things too convoluted.

10. Bring Cyclops back
I think this is pretty much a given. X:DOFP is trying to alter the X-Men universe, this being that X3 never happened (Thank God) so if they decide to bring some characters who bit the dust in X3 like Jean Grey, Charles Xavier, Cyclops, Rogue (was cured) and i'm sure i'm forgetting heaps more. If you bring those characters back give them something to do. Give Cyclops a job, make him the leader don't [frick] around with the source material, make Cyclops likable make him a leader.

All I know is I want Cyclops back and as the tough, smart field leader of The X-Men...not the soft, had barely screen time, getting punked by Wolverine, Cyclops we got in previous films.

If not Marsden, I say Jensen Ackles would be great replacement for the Cyclops we've been hoping to see :]

Not be different or have a need to be hated I honestly feel Jennifer Lawrence was miscast in the role. She is a good actress just not Mystique.

Beast looks so much less like Beast than Kelsey Grammar, it hurts my eyes.

Kitty Pryde should be the center. And lots more Colossus.
FOOM
FOOM - 3/10/2013, 7:18 AM
Yep. That about sums it up. Still could do with Rachel, Moira McTaggert, Colossus and Franklin Richards too though in a perfect world frame by frame adoption of Uncanny X-Men #141-142 would be mandatory. As would CGI 5"4' Jackman.

1, 3, 4, and 9 really don't make much sense to me.

Halle Berry might have made the papers for her off-screen drama, but in the movies, she was barely in it. In the Last Stand, there was nothing wrong with her role - she's SUPPOSED to be the X-Men's secondary leader. Recall THE BEST era in X-Men comics when Scott and the founding members go off to make X-Factor, leaving the "new" X-Men to pretty much fend for themselves. During the Morlock Massacre, Storm had to lead the X-Men and fight in the sewers WITHOUT her powers, and still proved to be a badass.

Lay off Jennifer Lawrence, man.
---

Use CGI when need be? What was wrong with Beast in First Class? Seriously, I thought his stunts were awesome, as short-lived as they were. I love when he sinks his claws into Azazel and demands to be teleported. He's a giant furball, man, what do you want?
---

Why wouldn't the First Class cast be able to reprise their roles? It's supposed to take place in the 70s, right? The original cast would be the obvious choices for the future X-Men, and it's confirmed that at least half the cast will be back for their parts. This isn't exactly a story about growth - it's about survival. The 70s X-Men have to stop the Brotherhood from assassinating a politician (presumably Nixon) as that proves to be the catalyst of a Sentinel-controlled dystopia. Where is there room for your New Mutants?
--

X2, which stands tall as the BEST of the X-Men movies, mixed God Loves, Man Kills in with Weapon X as well as the early stage of the Dark Phoenix Saga. Mixing stories isn't the problem. It's deciding who stays relevant and who doesn't. Look at the title of the movie here. This story was written DIRECTLY after the Dark Phoenix Saga, and only actually spanned two issues.

There kind of HAS to be filler.

Humor?! Only if it's appropriate and keep it sparse. Leave the one liners to the 80's action movies.

Yes!!!! I want a young cyclops and orginal Comic costumes other than wolvirine, just forget about the cowl but give him everything else. Focus on the WHOLE team and make cyclops the leader. I think the avengers will influence this films team orientated action. iPhone and please make James Mcavoy the main Professor X, he was great in first class

Great article, not sure i quite agree with the humor point, think avengers did well distributing the laughs as well as a few others, but hey, just opinion i guess.
Most of these other points really need to be taken on board by marvel though i think.

i figured it out, dinklege is playing none other than (drumroll plz) apocalypse, no srsly though i think omar sy would make a believable young bill duke as trask, n as to #4 ever since i read 'first class was going to be a trilogy' ive been psyched to see a new class of x-men n stories set n the future tense, and #8 i feel would be a lot better executed if nstead of physical time travel it was more of a mental in-habitation on one of the psychics behalf

Am I wrong,or did Newsarama not do this list too? Then again they do so many "10 things" lists it's hard to keep track but I feel like I saw almost this exact list on Newsarama recently. Don't mean I ain't goin' senile though.

I really hope Fox learned from the Avengers and gives us a more sensationalized movie and not so "grounded".

@ beane

No, he pretty much copy and pasted this article from Newsarama. All he did was change one of them with "Bring Back Cyclops."

Other than that, its pretty much the exact same article.

agree with all points-
What I wish for is a proper stature Wolverine- he's 5'5 not 6'2
I wish for the Cyclops I always loved- strong leader, take no shit- OLDER THAN HAVOC(looking at you First Class)
I wish for a Storm who is more African Queen/Goddess and less Halle Berry
I wish for James McAvoy and Patrick Stewart to share a scene together as Prof X's
CGI Beast,Nightcrawler,Blob,Toad and Juggernaut
CGI transformation of Colossus and Ice Man that looks less SyFy channel
A more female looking Jean Grey- did it have to be the transsexual looking Famke Jansen ?
Cable and Bishop !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Christ I wish singer hadnt taken over this film I wish Fox had just taken 1st class and started a new. At this point I really hope its good but in all honesty Im expecting another mediocre middle of the road meh-fest, like every other of Singers CBMs.. Usual Suspects great, Apt pupil good, hell Valkarie actually ok, Xmen 1/2 dull, Superman return what the fu.ck have you done I really cant understand how anyone involved thought this was ever a good idea.

Singer step away from the superheroes you obviously arent any good at it, so please just stop. I beg you........ just stop

Don't agree with the costumes and the humour. There are plenty of humourus lines spoken by many other characters in superhero movies, but all we can see is ONE comic relief. I don't think that, because one guy is the comic relief, the other characters are all serious.

"An accomplice ? I'm gonne tell them the whole thing was your idea !" Not spoken by Michael Caine, worth a laugh.

Also, don't try. Wolverine's suit is no movie material. It's the only superhero that would look like a walking circus with his suit, and the one character that must be kept the farthest from a walking circus look. Wolverine's suit is his "badassness".

Guys, read the story again (or for the first time) if you haven't. Scott isn't IN Days of Future Past. It takes place two issues after the Dark Phoenix Saga closes up. Cyclops has left the X-Men to grieve.

Here's the line-up:

Xavier, Storm, Wolverine, Colossus, Nightcrawler, Kitty, and Angel. Moira is gassed by Mystique.

In the alternate future:

Storm, Magneto (wheelchair bound), Rachel, Colossus (with Mr Fantastic hair), Kitty (Kate), Franklin (the first to die), and Wolverine.

Present Brotherhood line-up:

Mystique, Destiny, Pyro, Blob, and Avalanche.

The essentials are Wolverine, Kitty, Colossus, Storm, Mystique, and Nightcrawler.

CGI is WAY to overused in Hollywood these days. I pay my money to watch a movie, not a video game cut scene.
