Conflicting Frost's in 1st Class and Wolverine. How to make them fit...

As you most likely know, Emma was the younger sister (and a major plot point causing the actions) of Silverfox in Wolverine: Origins.

Then, in X-Men: First Class, as if our memory was supposed to be wiped cleaner than Wolverine's, a much older Emma Frost plays a very large supporting role.

Virtually the same character, the Wolverine version is supposed to have never happened according to Fox Studios.

I have a couple explanations as to why this is, though I assure none are true but it eases my mind to think that Fox does care about the franchise (and fans) a little.

1) Although Wolverine: Origins the game hints that Wraith, not Azazel, is the father of Nightcrawler, it is not cannon to the movie series. Understanding that, and seeing First Class in theatres, I can surmise that Mystique and Azazel bond whilst helping create the original brotherhood and she becomes pregnant with Kurt (throw Magneto in there for a love triangle).

That leaves Emma and Riptide (who was never named within the movie). Fox studios changes anything they want in these movies so why not make those 2 parents of Silverfox and Emma. Thus explaining the similarities in looks and the same name. The darker Silverfox could have taken after her father. The timeline fits fine, too.

2) Shaw, who was very similar in his "mad scientist of genetics" personality to Sinister. Sinister was always conducting experiments and cloning and what not. Who's to say Shaw didn't clone Emma (just in case). The younger Emma of Wolverine may not have been a real sister to Silverfox and may be 1 of many Stepford Cookoos.

This, as crazy as it sounds gives me peace of mind, untrue or otherwise.

I'm with MedioCore on this one. Just say X-men Origins: Wolverine never happend! Oh and furthermore add X-men: The Last Stand to that list!

Now everything fits perfectly, only bad thing, we are back with the mindless wrestler Sabretooth, but I guess I can live with that.
And to those who say: What about Hank being his humanform in X2? The answer is simple: Image-inducer!
Actually you could make it a plot point that Hank want to be normal so two movies from now he has invented the image-inducer and has left the x-men to start a career in politics or something like that.

I agree 100%. i never like the idea of a prequel. inthe 1st movie it shouldve been Giant-size X-Men. Cuz really the 1st 5 wouldnt be thrilling enough the others wouldve made it great. then after 3 movies a prequel couldve been done the correct wat with the 1st 5 already established

@Lucky

I even thought that Mystique was going to be her clean, non-scaley self and that Beast's experiment was going to amplify them both. I was wrong again. Why would Fox care enough to try and make something like the actual comic when they havent thus far

Everyone should read that because it makes lots of valid points. No great comic book movie resembles its comic book. Specifically Dark Knight X2 and Spider Man 2. Plus I think first class only tried to show contunjty within Singer's world. Wolverine and X3 weren't singer.

To be honest, I'm perfectly happy to do the same as MedioCORE, Origins was an awful mishmash of characters with almost no actual merit. It was a toy advert. Nothing would make me happier than to have Fox announce they were deleting it from movie canon.

Having said that, I still have a big problem with Emma in First Class. SImply put, she may as well have not been there. I don;t know if it was the script or January Jones, but she was entirely forgettable, a simple pawn of Sebastian Shaw that could have easily been nameless. Hopefully if we do get another FC movie, she'll take a more prominent role, maybe taking over the superior role in the Hellfire Club.

@adam

You bring up a very logical and good point. I wonder if Singer is pulling a "Frank Miller" and saying only what he was involved in was cannon. Aside from the messed up roster of X1 and X2 (and the mindless Sabretooth which i was really hoping would connect to Beast's and Mystique's [never occured, wish it had]tranformation) i ejoyed those 2.

@Kill

You are correct about "could've been a nameless pawn" but I hope, too, that Jones steps it up in the eventual sequel.

how about Emma from Wolverine can be retconned as not being Emma Frost seeing as how they never called her than on screen?
the only time you hear the name Emma Frost is in one thirty second promotional ad for Wolverine.

granted:
in the credits, she is listed as Kayla's sister/Emma.
but who actually reads the credits out of your average movie going audience???
heck, when i wait for the tag scene, i just sit and talk or just read my book, glancing occassionally at the screen to see what part its at.

X-Men Origins Wolverine never happened, this movie supersedes Wolverine and X3.

I just like to think wolverine never happened and first class is a new start. Kinda like a the requel ghost rider is doing. But those assumptions did ease my confused mind.

I will watch First Class and probably enjoy it, but they should have used the opportunity to just make a fresh start. It's not really cool if movies that are clearly set in the same universe need a manual coming with every ticket about what the audience should ignore and how this or that might be possible...

The theory is pretty far fetched for me... doesn't make me feel any better. It actually makes me more frustrated.

The only thing that MIGHT ease my mind is thinking of First Class as a reboot... which isn't hard considering the only thing that tied it to the others at all were a couple of cameos (Lou Ferrigno had a cameo in Ang Lee's Hulk...does that tie it to the TV series?) and some photo-shopped movie posters with silhouettes from the other films.
