Rose Byrne Added To Cast Of "X-Men: First Class"

As shooting comes nearer, the cast for X-Men gets just a little bit closer to finished.

It seems that actress Rose Byrne ("Troy") is in negotiations with 20th Century Fox to join the cast of the upcoming prequel "X-Men: First Class". The Hollywood Reporter website is reporting that Byrne will be playing famed scientist Dr. Moira MacTaggert, who was previously played by Olivia Williams in "X-Men: The Last Stand". They are also stating she will be a love interest for Professor X (James McAvoy).



Now if only we knew who would be playing the younger versions of Cyclops and Jean Grey in the film...

nice find but I would prefer a sequel to explain what happen to scott in x3 and establish and restore faith into x men films again that got screwed over with brett ratner but thats off topic anyways nice find:D FIST BLOCK!FIRST! HAHAHAHA

At least Rose Byrne's a pretty decent actress. I still think the movie will be crap, considering nearly no character from the 'original five' have been included. The way they're planning this, it would've been much more suitable for the Magneto movie. We don't want baby x-men. We want the 'original five' late-teen x-men who can kick serious ass.

The real question here is WHEN does MARVEL regain the right to X-Men??? FOX is only jam packing these characters so they can still keep the rights.

But FOX redeemed themselves by having their first two financially successful films of 2009, "Avatar" and "Taken". And "Predator" got glowing reviews. Can this hot streak continue, or will they dig themselves even deeper?

This is fantastic news! Rose Byrne is a tallented actress, so this is a good casting choise. Hopefully, she'll do a Scottish accent. If she doesn't, it will be because the producers didn't want it, cause I've seen Byrne do it before.

Come on Fox, stop stalling and cast Cyclops and Jean!

@itbegins2005 - That's exactly how I feel. I hated the X-Men movies for making people think Wolverine is the definition of X-Men, when he's anything but. X3 was the last straw for me. It was like they took every good leadership qualities from comic-book Cyclops and gave them to movie-Wolverine, and in doing that, reduced movie-Cyclops to a useless, whiny side character.

FOX needs to give up their rights to X-Men if we're gonna have any hope of seeing a true X-Men movie.

The more I hear about this movie, the more messy it sounds. Vaughn did a great job of handing a fairly small ensemble cast in Kick-Ass (which is why I thought he'd be perfect at doing the same here with a small team of X-Men and bigger named stars playing character like Magneto) but I cant see how any director can give all these characters such as Emma Frost, Azazel and now Moira MacTaggert enough screen time to tell an effective story. It's shaping up to be another cameo filled flop of a film like X-Men Origins: Wolverine so far IMO.

this gonna have renamed to either x-men:twilight or x-men 90210.

fox must of hired the creative team behind smallville.

Loved her in 28 Weeks Later. If anyone has seen "Adam" it's a great little romantic comedy/drama co-starring Rose.
