So how did X-Men First Class perform at the Box Office during the 4 day weekend?

It IS week 5 for the movie but it still holds on to a No. 11 spot...

X-Men First Class has slipped from No. 6 in the previous weekend to No. 11 now...But this was bound to happen with Transformers storming cinemas & it also being Week 5 for X-Men First Class!

Here's how the US BO looks right now (figures don't include July 4 earnings):
1. Transformers: Dark of the Moon $97,500,000
2. Cars 2 $26,170,000
3. Bad Teacher $14,500,000
4. Larry Crowne $13,111,000
5. Super 8 $7,820,000
6. Monte Carlo $7,425,000
7. Green Lantern $6,520,000
8. Mr. Popper's Penguins $5,450,000
9. Bridesmaids $3,653,000
10. Midnight in Paris $3,566,000
11. X-Men: First Class $2,970,000
Green Lantern slipped from it's No.3 spot to No. 7 this week!

However, X-Men: First Class made an additional $647,628 on the 4th of July raking in a total gross of $3,617,628 after the 4 day weekend.

Thus it's totally gained a domestic gross of $139,329,355 (almost reaching it's effective budget of $140 mil!).

So does this warrant the two sequels that Lauren Donner Shuler spoke about close to the film's release? I certainly think so cos XFC had several factors going against it:
-The last 2 X-Men movies (X3 & X-Men Origins Wolverine) have left a bad taste in many mouths.
-No huge star cast. Absolutely none of the star power from ANY of the previous X-movies have returned for roles (besides two cameos from Jackman & Rebecca Romijn).
-The movie didn't make use of 3D or IMAX to jack up the ticket prices.
-Bad marketing, no- make that EXTREMELY bad marketing. The only thing that saved it were the several trailers/clips/TV spots that were being offered up almost everyday before the release.
