TNT Crosses X-Men:First Class With NBA Playoff Stars in This Promo Commercial

What would you get if you gave Lebron James and Dwyane Wade the powers of X-Men:First Class members? Maybe Derrick Rose could actually fly around the court like Banshee. Follow the jump to see for yourself.

This cool new mash up/promo combines some of the coolest scenes and powers from X-Men:First Class with some of the biggest NBA stars involved in the Eastern Conference Finals. Wouldn't this be a playoff series for the ages?

Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X's X-MEN.

Directed by Matthew Vaughn X-Men:First Class stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne and Kevin Bacon is set to hit theaters this June.

@ MrSuperheromoviefan- That's right, you are not exciting. I'm only kidding, depending on the way you read your comment it makes me chuckle.

I really dislike when they start crossing sports and super hero powers. It almost always comes across as an active plea of desperation and pandering. Just look and Stan Lee's work with the NHL. The only time this worked for me was when Wayne Gretzky joined forces with the likes of Michael Jordan and Bo Jackson to form the ProStars.

Illuminatus@ How was that a failure??? Fox managed to link their product to a huge television draw in the NBA playoffs. The average ratings for the first two rounds have been between 3 and 4 million viewers and that game was for the eastern conference finals so the ratings are going to be higher. So i ask again, how is putting your product in the middle of that a failure!?!

The only thing I wish LeBron James has is AIDS.

JWStubner@ Ouch!!! Are you a Cav's fan?
Illuminatus
Illuminatus - 5/16/2011, 9:09 AM
@Brashlight Maybe it was the fact that it was poorly edited, and looked like a fourth grader spliced the footage together on his Macbook. Then again, that's pretty much how all the posters/majority of the TV spots have looked for this film, like they've been done by a little kid with ADHD and no idea what creating a coherent idea of what the film is about.

I guess that from a pure business standpoint, it was a success. You're right that millions of people most likely saw it. But then again, those millions of people were probably confused as to why these random characters are doing things inside a basketball stadium.

Still, doesn't change the fact that it looks bellow sub-par, and Fox could've done a much better job with ease.

TNT edits these not Fox. Also, you can wish aids on Lebron, it's K.
Illuminatus
Illuminatus - 5/16/2011, 9:28 AM
@CaptainAmerica Is that so? Well, then I guess Fox and TNT have something new in common, terrible editing techniques.:)

@JWStubner Shut up. You sound like one of those butthurt Cav fans. And you know what they are IDIOTS. I bet you dont even have a legitimate reason why you hate him. Dont wish AIDS on other people man, I know your mother raised you better than that.
Brashlight
Brashlight - 5/16/2011, 9:35 AM
Illuminatus@ I can see that but yeah I think what CaptainAmerica said was right, that it’s TNT that does the editing. It didn't bother me, I thought it was a good concept. I just think that getting it to a mass audience is key. Unfortunately whether it looked good or not takes a back seat to mass distribution. But like I said, I actually thought it was kind of cool. Different strokes for different folks I guess!

And come on let’s admit it...you just hate fox lol ;P

@Brashlight Hate is practically a term of endearment compared to how I feel about Fox. My hatred goes beyond words.

Very true about mass distribution, and you have to respect that, it was a smart move.

@MovieTheaterLad Who's too say that we don't know what we're talking about? There are people who support this film that think the posters look Photoshoped. Not everyone is going to write home about how "awesome" you think the posters are, sorry to break it to you.

It's the very beginning. The guy licking the glass just ate everybody's pot and shrooms because the police pulled them over. He is freaking out in the back of a police cruiser.
