FeatureFilmCasting.com is reporting that the next installment of Fox's X-Men franchise will begin filming this September in London. This will allow the studio only eight months to both film and complete all the post production CG work if they are to meet their established theatrical release date of June 3rd, 2011.

So far, the film only has one actor cast; James McAvoy, who will portray a young Professor Charles Xavier. KICK-ASS director Matthew Vaughn is set to direct the prequel, with Brian Singer and Lauren Shuler Donner as producers.

Auditions are currently underway in Los Angeles, CA, for both major and minor roles in X-Men: First Class; with some casting expected to take place in the UK. If you're interested in auditioning for the film, you can contact the Principle Casting Directors:

Roger Mussenden or Jeremy Rich
5933 W. Slauson, Culver City, CA, 90230.

Totally agree with Grif. It seems that it wont be a big scale film and CG heavy. I mean shooting in Sept. for a June release, kinda weird.

I hope they ditch all the past film continuity so they can use the original team from the comics. Oh, and if so, Sentinels? REAL Sentinels?

Any idea if this is a prequel or if it's a "Do-Over"? Can we expect another helping of the same piss-poor story and character development crap they tried to feed us in the previous 4 movies?

Jeez, they're really rushing this movie out! Despite a great director like Vaughn being on board, I really think that it'll suck. Another cameo filled mess that [frick]s up continuity for future movies just like X-Men Origins: Wolverine! ;(

I hope that the Kick-Ass director will somehow help avoid that but at the end of the day, he only has a certain amount of power when it comes to those sorts of decisions...I just wish we knew some more deatails about characters, casting and story because that would make it a lot easier to tell whether it'll be any good!

As with the Spider-Man reboot though, I find it hard to care either way.

GUNSMITH: That's exactly it. They've seen the success of garbage like Twilight and have decided that the best way to make a quick buck is to do the same with superheroes! Hell, even Marvel Studios are guilty of doing the same thing by making a Ruanaways movie seemingly in preference of other characters like Black Panther or Doctor Strange!

Both Spider-Man and the X-Men would have benefitted more from an Incredible Hulk style reboot that just picked up with the characters at a certain point without referencing or relying on the past movies. An X-Men: First Class movie would be cool if you could assume that we'd get an accurate adaptation of the early days of the X-Men but Singer, Ratner and that bloke who directed Wolverine screwed up continuity enough to make sure that'll never happen! ;(

@GUNSMITH

i agree with u i rather a X-Men 4 to be honest. i personally dont like prequels for comic book movie cause they never match up to the previous movies story line. X-Men 4 could of have The Sentinels and even Sinsiter, then X-Men 5 just Sinsiter and X-Men 6 Apocolyse and the four horsemen

Wasn't rushed and haphazard production the downfall of this film franchise? Has Fox learned nothing? F*ck this movie and f*ck Fox.

It seems like they're aiming at the younger crowd on this one. It does seem like they're rushing it, don't remember even hearing anything about the script and what storyline they plan on going with. Which originals will they have besides Cyclops, Jean, and Iceman? I'm hoping it works out, Vaughn did good with Wanted. My thing is, if they wanted to make a good teenager-based cbm, why not do Teen Titans? It already has a good following from the cartoon. Then again, this would be marvels version, I guess, but marvel could put out Power Pack. Well, here's to another probable crappy origin story

joshw@ you're points definitely hit the nails on the head, we need X-4 with apocolypse!, but i'd settle for the sentinels

lol! OF Course it is gonna blow. Man.. announcing the Filming dates..ALONG WITH CASTING AUDITIONS!!?? WTF!?

40% of me hopes, in vain, it will be a good CBMovie..but the realistic 60% of me knows it will b e rushed and bad.

The 100% of me hopes it doesn´t make enough money so Fox will sell the rights back to Marvel (since that is Marvel´s public plan anyway)
Shaman
Shaman - 6/1/2010, 8:17 AM
SirJed- I hate to break it to you but unless Disney decides to buy out Fox, that will never happen. There is no amount of money that Fox would accept from Disney to take the rights away from them.

Wow. The conclusion that can be drawn from these posts is as follows: Mattthew Vaughn's Awesome < Fox's Suck.

@Shaman - Did you you see the I'm a Marvel/I'm a DC musical number? After enough flop reboot/sequels it will happen. There will probably be a law suit involved, I'd guess.

SirJed- It's someone's art of Reeve, which i thought was really cool :)

Mass- You really think so? Marvel could sue Fox? I haven't seen those shorts yet. When ever i get home it evades my mind to look them up. I know i'm missing out on something pretty funny ;)

But seriously, does anyone think Marvel would have a case against Fox if they completely tarnish their product? I guess they would have to go with the publication sales drop of the comics. Maybe that's why the X-men books have sucked lately. Marvel's purposely doing it so they can blame Fox, sue them and get their rights back LOL ;P

@Shaman - It'll be about some violation of their contract, like something not going into production withing a certain time period (like with Ghost Rider), or they'll try to say there was an assumed expiration date, or direct to video releases (*shudder*) don't count or something. I guess it could be a "You made people hate our characters" thing, but I'm thinking that's hard to prove. I'm guessing it will be about contract minutia.
SirJediFrank
SirJediFrank - 6/1/2010, 9:14 AM
Shaman@ yes, i am not saying it will be a friendly negotiation kind of thing. but i mean, Fox (as sony, etc) only makes these movies for the money..and..

..Mass@, yes, they HAVE TO start production on the next Character-related film in order to keep the rights, or else they will be reverted back to Marvel.. that IS what the contract says

.. My comment was reffering to Kevin Feige´s "..there is only a limited number of times the audience will go to see a Rebooth" comment. So Marvel will wait until Fox and maybe Sony get tired of these ROTTEN FROM THE CORE rebooths.
