He tells of not knowing what role he was auditioning for, just that it was for x-men and it was his dream to play a superhero; "I'm getting to fly, which I've always wanted to do. I'm playing a superhero, which I've always wanted to do. Don't look like Spider-Man, don't look like Batman, so it's fantastic that there's one that I do look like, kind of."
He also reveals he was never a big x-men fan as he wasn't allowed to watch it growing up (on account of Wolverine using such awful words such as "punk") and that he was more of a Batman fan, but the movie (and subsequent reading material that came with landing the part) has converted him. He recounts how reading stories of Banshee helped influence his more subtle actions on set such as looking at Moira McTaggert slightly differently due to the comics romantic connection between the two.
When asked about whether he would be getting his own action figure he responded "Now that hasn't dawned on me completely, but my mind is already racing. I'm ready to be an action figure. I'd love that very much. And all the redheaded kids will get to go out and feel loved and be able to buy a redheaded action figure."
