I was one of the few people that actually liked X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Although i have always thought that the X movies were more Wolverine movies. And my favorite thing about The Last Stand was Beast. I though Grammer did a fantastic job.

Now on to my review. Did i come into this movie with expectations high? Yes. Did they get fulfilled? Hell yes! This is a spectacular film. Its hands down the best superhero film to date (yes even better than the Dark Knight, which my opinion is way overrated due to Ledger's death). The pacing on the film was fantastic, the was never a dull moment. Te development of the characters of Erik and Charles was phenomenal. Its clear that the X-Men Origins: Magneto script was absorbed into this, its really Magneto's movie here. The real star was Fassabender. He was a revelation, he brought depth and emotion to a superhero movie in a way that i never though possible. H made it easy to sympathize with his barbaric ways, and see the vengeful motive behind them. Kevin Bacon was another star of the show. I thought he was an extremely creepy villain. I found it impressive that at least half his lines were in Russian and German. I found Emma Frost's character very dull and cardboard in this film. This is probably due to Jones's performance. I have to say, this woman cannot act. It seemed like she was more interested in the director than the scene at hand. I thought that Beast should have gotten more screen time in his furry form. I was also impressed with Jennifer Lawrence's portrayal of Mystique. Also her being from Louisville (I'm from Lexington) also puts her high up in my book, this could show that some real talent can come from Kentucky. The CGI in this film was great! Beasts transformation was very realistic (especially the first person POV). The cameos were also a nice touch. Wolverine's was perfectly placed and was a nice way to include Jackman in the film. Romijn's cameo was also very cool. The cerebro scene introduced us to the film's version of Scott Summers and Storm as well. I didn't think that Darwin got enough screen time, he had one of the coolest powers and died way too early on. THe end scene of the movie was by far the best. I actually teared up when Charles was shot. You could feel the pain in Magneto's eyes as he held his best friend, crippled because of him. The only cheesy part in the movie was Magneto's final costume, the helmet was ridiculous.

Overall I think this is the best comic book movie ever made. It was the perfect time length to get all the information across and never felt rushed (unlike Thor which i thought is also one of the best ever, and yes i thought it was way better than Iron Man 1). I will be seeing this film another time, it truly will be the sleeper hit of the year. Congrats Fox, you may have just crafted the best superhero film ever.
