The first impressions for Mad Max: Fury Road seem to be universally positive. The movie has been hailed as "The Road Warrior on steroids", and is apparently dominated by one big action-packed chase across the post apocalyptic wasteland. One reviewer said although it was weird not to have Mel Gibson in the title role, Tom Hardy did a fine job. Overall the general consensus is that this has been worth the wait, and we are "in for a treat". You can check out the new synopsis below, and read the first impressions in more detail HERE.

“MAD MAX: FURY ROAD is the fourth film of George Miller‘s Road Warrior/Mad Max franchise co-written and directed by Miller. The post-apocalyptic action film is set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life. Within this world of fire and blood exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order… There’s Max (played by TOM HARDY from The Dark Knight Rises), a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos. And… Furiosa (played by CHARLIZE THERON from Prometheus), a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.”

Good to hear first impressions seem to be universally positive but after the disappointments of the Star Wars prequels and Prometheus even the fact that George Miller is doing this is not enough to make me have high hopes. We will see.

I often wondered about the massive differences in setting/society etc between movies myself. I guess even though the character didn't seem to age that much, there must have been quite a few years between the three films.

I mean its been about 3 years since the production started and it has yet to be release, not even a trailer or clip....is there a reason why for the delay?

I would love Mel Gibson to come back, but that fool is way too old looking. This new Mad Max might really be great...dont trust these early impressions, though.

I'm just glad it doesn't sound (from these critics anyway) like most of the generic "action" bullsh*t that has been pouring out of Hollywood as of recently.

Even if it sucks, I hope it has some type of style to it.

It will be wierd having Mad Max not being played by a raging anti-semetic in his 60's or 70's....

I know nothing about the Mad Max trilogy, but I'm a Tom Hardy fan, and a Charlize Theron fan, so I'll check it out.
