George Miller Reveals He "Won’t Make More MAD MAX Movies"; Says They "Take Forever" To Make

Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller has just revealed in a recent interview, that he will not be making another Mad Max film, due to the fact that those films take up a lot of time.

George Miller was praised for the work he did in Mad Max: Fury Road, and fans only hoped that he'd follow up his work with a sequel. However, in a recent interview with the New York Post’s Page Six, Miller revealed that he won't ever direct another Mad Max film again. "I won’t make more ‘Mad Max’ movies. ‘Fury Road’ with Charlize Theron, Zoë Kravitz, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Riley Keough was forever getting completed. If you finish one in a year, it’s considered a leap of faith. Start, stop, start again."

Shortly after, he elaborated, and revealed just how much time the
production for Mad Max took up. "I’ve shot in Australia in a field of wild flowers and flat red earth when it rained heavily forever. We had to wait 18 months and every return to the US was 27 hours. Those ‘Mad Maxes’ take forever. I won’t do those anymore."

This has to come across as disappointing news for the many fans who enjoyed his film. Now that Miller has made this clear, we all wonder which director will take up the mantle for the next "Mad Max" movie, which is titled "Mad Max: The Wasteland". Whoever gets the spot, let's hope that they won't have to wait as long as Miller and company did. What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

I just watched Mad Max again last night......such a great movie. I am sad Miller is not going to do another one. Maybe WB will have him do a DC movie.

@Embajador

That is why the movie is so great....even with the limited story and dialogue.....it still told an amazing story. There are very and I mean very few movies that could do that.

I personally did not sit there asking many questions....even though there were parts that had no explanation.

Sitting there for a year talking about how you'll do Mad Max: The Wasteland and how amazing it will be, bathing in the praise of Fury Road, saying you'd do a smaller film first, still hyping the [frick] out of MM5 then out of nowhere you just decide to drop it?

@Embajador

Hey those are valid issues....I think some of your questions or issues would have disappeared if you did see the first three movies. Though the third movie was good but not great, to me the second movie was really good.

This sucks, but I respect him for not cutting corners when he makes these movies, I think that comes across when you watch it because they are great looking film. I hope if he lets anyone else touch his world they treat it with as much care as George does

Aw man! I understand his problems with making these movies, but it's a darn shame we'll never get another one from him.

Then you'd think he would've listed Holt too.

Give "The Raid" director a shot at doing the sequel. He's got a PERFECT EYE for action. I'd love to see what he could do with a $150 million budget.

Or the director of "A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night"

She's got an eye for amazing visuals.

I concur with @DrDoom ...

Mad Max came off more as Disappointed Max... than Mad. Disappointed he was still stuck in the desert, disappointed he's with all these freed virigns and none of them want to bang him, disappointed he's a sidekick in his own movie.
