The next installment in George Miller's Mad Max franchise has had it's bumps in the road ever since it was announced. It was planned to start shooting last year in Australia but shooting was cancelled due to severe floods in the areas the film was set to shoot.
Recently George Miller has spoken to The Daily Telegraph and gives us an update on his upcoming movie 'Mad Max: Fury Road'.
“We will restart pre-production later this year and begin early next year—weather permitting. We’ve built the vehicles. We’ve designed the movie. The principal cast is locked in. The film is funded. It’s all ready to go. We just wait. All the contracts are signed. It’s a locked-in film. It has been for 18 months now. Ironically, had we been shooting in Broken Hill in January and February—when we were meant to—we would have been flooded out.”
'Mad Max: Fury Road' is set to star Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron in the lead roles, and now it's looking like Nicholas Hoult and Riley Keough will also be joining them. Theresa Palmer was also attached to the film but The Playlist is now reporting that she is no longer attached to the movie.

“It’s a relaunch and revisit to the world. An entire restructuring. That’s not to say that it’s not picking up or leaving off from the Mad Max you know already, but it’s a nice re-take on the entire world using the same character, depositing him in the same world but bringing him up to date by 30 years.”
I love the original Mad Max movies, and I think this one is going to be great too. Normally I'm not for reboots, and if this movie was in anyone else's hands it would probably flop, but it's George's franchise, he knows the movies better than anyone, and I don't think he'd reboot the franchise if he wasn't 100% he could deliver a worth-while movie.
