Mad Max: Fury Road scored a total of 10 nominations when the nominees for this year's Academy Awards were announced earlier today, but it's The Revenant which leads the pack with 12. The Martian had 7 despite there being no mention of Sir Ridley Scott, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens received 5, even though it failed to land a Best Picture nod. As per usual, there are a lot of omissions (Carol, Straight Outta Compton, The Hateful Eight) and some very surprising inclusions (no one predicted Michael Fassbender getting a nod for Steve Jobs, even though it is well deserved).
