Awards season is just before us and the first award has already been given out it was by the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) who have decided that the film of the year will not be some french drama but rather George Millers Mad Max Fury Road which become a smash hit over the summer when he found out about the news Gerge had this to say “You could have knocked me over with a feather!,” said Miller in a statement. "It’s lovely to have this great cohort of critics acknowledge our collective labours in this way.” The award will be presented to Miller on September 18th at the San Sebastian Film Festival where a Gala screening of the film will also take place.

Well they're not wrong.
Mad Max was an amazing movie, in every aspect: acting, stunts, script, cinematography
I hope this is a sign that it'll get an Oscar nom because lord knows it deserves it

Movie was good. Wouldn't say it's my favorite release this year though. Torn between "Ant-Man" and "Straight Outta Compton."

Seriouely? It's a good movie, but nowhere near movie of the year.

In my opinion Furious 7 kicks both Antman, Age of Ultron and Kingsman's ass. Easily. My list thus far:

1. Mad Max
2. Ex Machina
3. Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation
4. Furious 7
5. What We Do In the Shadows

I'll be checking "It Follows" this week. FINALLY.

Out of the movies released this year, so far, "Mad Max" is easily number one. Easily. "Ex Machina" is the only one that comes close, but still I think Fury Road has the edge.

got the bluray and the movie is beautiful. but best movie of the year lmfao. this movie is overrated as [frick].50% of the time when there is no vehicular stuff. the movie is shit.

tom hardy is the poormans captain walker. there is no reaso9n i can see why they could not have used gibson. thunderdome is still the best.

Its a great movie. Its not my fav of the year, but that a matter of opinion. Its between Straight outta Compton & Ex-Machina for me.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought it was slightly overrated...don't get me wrong, the stunts, and cinematography were amazing. But the writing and acting was so so...I know it was supposed to be over the top, but it took me out of the film by how flat the script was. And the fact that Tom Hardy only grunted throughout the film didn't help either. Again, I thought it was okay, I wouldn't have rated it higher than a B+ or maybe even a B...

Spiderfraud@ Especially not in your porno movies, right?

Grif@ Because it turns out that Gibson wasn't acting, when he played Mad Max. He really is batshit, piggy-licking crazy! But, yeah, he would've been my first choice.

I can't believe they gave any film a "Best film of the year" award. It's September! The 2nd!

It's been one of the worst years for films in recent history, so far. But these would be my picks:

1. It Follows.
2. Ex Machina.
3. Avengers - Age of Ultron.
4. Ant-Man.
5. Amy.
6. Mad Max - Fury Road.
7. Chappie.
8. Tomorrowland.

And I'll have to stop it there, before I'm forced to shoehorn movies I don't care for too much, like Kingsman: The Secret Service, in there. I supposed that would have to be number 9. And 10 might've ended up being Jurassic World or Spy or Entourage or Ted 2 or even Jupiter Ascending, because they're better movies than Terminator: Genisys, San Andreas, Fifty Shades of Grey, Focus or any of the other shitty movies I've paid good money to see, this year.

And I wouldn't actualy make too much of an effort to recommend any of the movies that I've listed in my Top 8, to anyone, besides the first two.

Basically, go see It Follows and then Ex Machina and the you're done with the year so far. Nothing else is worth it.

Worst movie year ever.

Probably. Actually 1855 was a pretty shit year for movies. There weren't any, really.
