BATMAN V SUPERMAN Star Henry Cavill Reveals Origin Of MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - FALLOUT's Arm Reload Scene

The sight of Henry Cavill quite literally reloading his arms in Mission: Impossible - Fallout before kicking ass has become infamous, and the actor has explained the origin of that badass, iconic scene.

While he may have put himself on the map playing the DCEU's Superman, Henry Cavill has done a lot over the past few years to show that there's more to him than just the Man of Steel.

As well as starring in The Witcher, he took on a villainous role in Mission: Impossible - Fallout which saw him play the relentless August Walker. One of Ethan Hunt's most formidable foes to date, he showed just how tough he was during a memorable bathroom fight scene that generated a lot of discussion online.

During the action sequence, Walker literally reloaded his arms before continuing to dole out punishment, and that visual became a meme across social media platforms long before Mission: Impossible - Fallout even arrived in theaters.

Talking to Josh Horowitz (via ActioNewz.com), Cavill reflected on the now infamous scene saying, "I've seen so many conversations about this on Reddit." Asked whether the moment was in the script or something he came up with in the moment, the actor explained it was the latter, and said director Christopher McQuarrie loved it.

"There was nothing like that [in the script]. It was a rather intense fight scene. We'd actually been shooting it for about three weeks at that stage, which is a long time in comparison to things like The Witcher, where you get a day," he recalled. "Everything starts to get quite sore after a while because it's just a lot of repetitive motion, and the connective tendons in my biceps were getting sore so I had to warm them up before I threw punches."

"I would literally do that to warm them up. And I did it once and I thought, 'Oh god that probably looked really stupid, I can't believe I did that.' I said 'Sorry McQ, I won't do that again,' and he's like 'Do what? Okay whatever, let's go again,'" Cavill continued. "Then I did another take without doing it and he's like 'Why didn't you do...that thing? That was really good.' And I was like 'That was good?' And he said 'Yes, definitely do that.' And so we did."

It's awesome to learn the origin of this standout scene, and there's no denying it helped make Walker an even bigger badass. Cavill obviously won't be returning to this franchise given what happened to the villain, though we do hope to see him take on more roles like this, even with Superman now back in his future.

What the heck is arm reloading? He was warming up to get ready for the fight scene. He did look badass though.

Boxers and MMA fighters do it all the time right before a fight:

Henry was so good in Fallout. Honestly, the best villain of the franchise too. Fingers crossed that Esai Morales can meet the same bar for Dead Reckoning but I doubt it.

He was so [frick]ing Hot in that scene.

As a straight man, he’s the ideal Man that I want to be, and the one women want to be with.

He’s kind, gentle, embraces his own dorkiness, is a hard worker and physical specimen. Perfect guy, really.

@GetsugaTensho22 - just a reminder, no straight dudes say other dudes are “so [frick]ing hot.” Even if they are a smouldering dreamboat like Cavil. You can still be a straight guy and say it, but it’s the gay part of you saying it, all be it a small part.

@CaptainMexico - Hey man, I’m just saying it as I feel it. I don’t really pay attention to labels anymore. I’d be totally down if he asked me out LOL

@GetsugaTensho22 - "As a straight man"

After all that, are you sure about that, bud? 😂

@sully - I’ve tried it. Didn’t really do anything for me, so I’m pretty sure 😉

Though to be fair, Henry is a 10/10 and that guy was a 2/10 at best. I don’t mind the equipment though. I did date an MTF Trans woman (pre-OP) and that was definitely a nicer experience.

I wish they would do a sequel to Man from UNCLE, but without the cannibal guy.
