@EZBeast - NIIIICE!! This already looks better than Shin Godzilla which i was disappointed with. Haven't really loved a Japanese godzilla movie since Godzilla vs The Destroyah. Hoping this is good and i can catch an english dubbed version soon enough

@MotherGooseUPus - I personally loved shin Godzilla but at the same time the social commentary on the state of Japan wasn’t exactly for everyone.

I’m totally psyched for this though! He looks like hes the Godzilla from the cameo in this movie I can’t remember the title to lol

I also love the premise as this is Japan after enduring ww2 and now comes a destructive Godzilla!

@MotherGooseUPus - also Godzilla vs Destroyah is probably my fav Godzilla movie ever! The theme, the effects, the stakes, that ending, that intro…all perfection!

@EZBeast - i HATED the Shin design. This one looks great... like a newer version of the best, which is Heisei, imo.

I'd say Destroyah, Spacegodzilla and Godzilla 1985 (returns) are by far my 3 favorite Japanese ones

@MotherGooseUPus - oh the design. Yeah… not my fav either but I don’t hate it.

My favs are:
Godzilla vs Destroyah
Godzilla vs king Ghidorah
Godzilla va biollante
destroy all monsters

It’s another great Mission Impossible movie. Fallout is still the best. I was very happy to see it didn’t ends during the climax to set up part 2. This is as complete a narrative for a part one of a story you can get. The mission was complete and they establish a new mission.

At this point I think the Mission Impossible franchise stands on it's own in terms of pure cinematic entertainment. Dead Reckoning Part 1 just elevates it even higher. Each entry in the series just keep pushing the envelope. Even though it has been shown in the trailers and in promos, when Tom jumps his bike off the cliff the audience in the packed cinema I was in collectively gasped and the whole third act is just butt clenchingly tense. This is a seriously good time at the movies and I recommend seeing it on the biggest screen you can.

Saw this yesterdat and it was another major McQ/Cruise awesomeness.

Fallout still remains the best, but this was up there with Rogue Nation level of greatness.

The only thing that stops it from reaching Fallout's GOAT status is the pacing and overly-packed story (which will elevate the film on a re-watch). Some people also might not like what they did with a certain character, although I thought it worked within the context of the story.

The train sequence alone was worth the ticket price and the action in this was again out of this world.

Hayley Atwell was a refreshing addition to the cast and she did great, especially in the second half of the film.

Balfe composed another amazing soundtrack as well and I can't get over how good the opening 20 mins were, leading to the titles sequence.

In addition, the decision to shoot digital, signature De Palma dutch angles and the beautiful set locations, made for some truly spectacular cinematography. This will look stunning in 4K.

The wait for Part 2 will be long. Especially with how they've set up the villain of the film.

9.5/10

(Seeing this 3 more times this week - tomorrow, Thursday and Saturday (IMAX).

@kylo0607 - totally agree!!! I think you and I felt the same thing. Fallout for me remains untouched, but this movie was absolutely terrific and definitely on the same level as Rogue Nation. And I just rewatched all the MI films, so everything is quite fresh in my mind.

I won't delve too much into spoilers, for those that haven't seen it, but the train sequence was, as you said, worth the ticket price. I went into this thinking his cliff jump would be the highlight, but the train stuff was just mesmerizing.

Hayley Atwell was great. Gabriel was good too, I liked his swagger and demeanor. I still like Solomon Lane and Walker better though. Solomon Lane really was the opposite of Ethan and his true nemesis.

I was really surprised with the shocking twist with that one character, I did not expect that. It obviously had a huge impact on the characters and me as an audience member; wonder if there is a little trickery going on, like earlier in the movie, or if that action is final.

The set locations were also terrific. The stuff in Rome in particular was amazing, what an awesome location for all that action.

Super excited to see Part 2!!

My MI ranking:
1. Fallout
2. Dead Reckoning Part 1 (could get switched with Rogue Nation later)
3. Rogue Nation
4. Ghost Protocol
5. MI3
6. MI
7. MI2

@kylo0607 - I didn't mind the pacing or the packed story, just that they kept spoiling their own movie.

The action was great. Even the train sequence, despite everything already been done at one point or another (even Indiana Jones' train sequence). Yet it being all done with stunts is so much better

Just got home from seeing it. Nice to see a real movie again. it's not as actiony as I think a lot of people are expecting. Im really curious how the second part will conclude this story.

@micvalpro - yeah, it didn't feel very action-y now that you mention it. Still, it being all actual stunts makes it miles better than a lot of other action flicks

Looks good.
But Tom... He's getting old. His face doesn't look very good for an action hero.
