MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - ROGUE NATION Crosses $500M Worldwide; Opens Huge In China

"Hunt is uniquely trained and highly motivated - a specialist without equal - immune to any countermeasures. There is no secret he cannot extract, no security he cannot breach, no person he cannot become. He has most likely anticipated this very conversation and is waiting to strike in whatever direction we move. Sir, Hunt is the living manifestation of destiny - and he has made you his mission."

Over the Labor Day weekend, Tom Cruise and the IMF raced past the $500 million mark at the global box office and based on the most recent reports, it doesn't look like they plan on slowing down anytime soon. As of this posting, the film has earned over $183 million domestically and over $329 million internationally, not including China, for a worldwide sum of over $512 million.

On Tuesday, the critically acclaimed Chris McQuarrie-directed film opened to over $18.5 million in China making it the biggest opening day ever for a 2D Hollywood release and the fifth largest opening day for a Hollywood film overall. The opening numbers are also 116% ahead of the first-day numbers for Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol. Additionally, thanks to Jack Ma's newly formed Alibaba Pictures co-financing Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation and partnering with Paramount Pictures to market the film in Asia, the action sequel is expected to potentially reach a collection of over $200 million by the end of its run in China.

If the film manages to live up to its lofty early expectations, which all indicators suggest it will, the fifth installment in the long-running Mission: Impossible franchise will be on track to surpass the massive $694 worldwide gross of the previous installment.

What do you guys think? How many times have you gone Rogue? Sound off with your thoughts below!

With the IMF disbanded, and Ethan (Tom Cruise) out in the cold, the team now faces off against a network of highly skilled special agents, the Syndicate. These highly trained operatives are hellbent on creating a new world order through an escalating series of terrorist attacks. Ethan gathers his team and joins forces with disavowed British agent Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), who may or may not be a member of this rogue nation, as the group faces their most impossible mission yet.

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation will feature:
Director: Christopher McQuarrie
Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt
Jeremy Renner as William Brandt
Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn
Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell
Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust
Alec Baldwin as Alan Hunley
Sean Harris as Solomon Lane
Simon McBurney as Attlee
Zhang Jingchu as Lauren
Jens Hultén as Janik "Bone Doctor" Vinter
Tom Hollander as the Prime Minister
America Olivo as Turandot
Hermione Corfield as Record Shop Girl

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation has lit the fuse and is out everywhere NOW!

Great movie. Ever since MI-3 Cruise has been on point with this franchise, plus it was the same director he had when he did Jack Reacher. Good stuff.

@KingPatel Thanks for including that piece of dialogue at the top! I loved that line, and especially the way Baldwin delivered it. Just a perfect summation of the whole franchise haha

@blackandyellow The only movie I've seen in theaters this year is Ant-Man.

I'll try to see M:I5 but I may miss it. I'm going to see Spectre in theaters, for sure.

@mgeoff88

I don't go to the theater much either. 3 times this year, but Spectre is a definite for me. Maybe Black Mass too.

3 movies this year? 1 movie this year!? I couldn't imagine. I've probably seen a movie 30 maybe 40 times in the theater this year so far. And so many wonderful movies to go.

I can't stick to 3 movies a year either.

This year, I went to see Kingsman, FF7, AoU (3 times), Jurassic World, Mad Max: Fury Road, Terminator: Genisys (big mistake), Ant-Man, MI: Rogue Nation, Inside Out and if it counts, a TDK trilogy marathon (seen those countless times) in IMAX 10 days ago. I have yet to see Spectre and SW: TFA. So yeah, I go to the movies a lot.

The Female Lead was the BEST part of this film, she really carried it.
