Tom Cruise Features In New MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - ROGUE NATION Still; Plot Details Emerge

After catching a glimpse of Tom Cruise pulling off that insane plane stunt seen in the trailer, it's probably safe to say Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation will be the action movie of the year!

The last installment in the long-running Mission: Impossible franchise, Brad Bird's Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, was met with major critical acclaim and grossed nearly $700M at the worldwide box office, so expectations for the next mission are sky-high.

Entertainment Weekly has been extremely busy today rolling out summer movie previews for several of this summer's biggest releases, including superstar Tom Cruise's next big blockbuster, the Christopher McQuarrie-directed Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation! Not much is known about the plot yet outside of the brief mention in the trailer that Ethan Hunt and his elite IMF team, which features returning players Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, and Ving Rhames, will be going after a mysterious shadow organization, an anti-IMF, known as the Syndicate.

When asked about the insane plane stunt we all caught a glimpse of in the trailer, director McQuarrie shared a quick story of how the stunt came to be: "They brought me this plane, and I was looking at the model, and I said to Tom, ‘What if you were on the outside of this plane?’ I was kinda half joking when I said it, and he just looked at me and said, ‘Yeah, I could do that.’" So, after that quick seal of approval, the fearless megastar strapped himself to the side of an Airbus A400M and took off with it as the plane reached heights of 3,000 feet during the shoot of the high octane action sequence.

Check out a new still of Cruise and Rebecca Ferguson, who plays a mysterious operative with ambiguous allegiances, below!

Also, be sure to check out the four previously released stills below in Ultra-HQ!

Ethan and team take on their most impossible mission yet, eradicating the Syndicate – an International rogue organization as highly skilled as they are, committed to destroying the IMF.

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation will feature:
Director: Christopher McQuarrie
Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt
Jeremy Renner as William Brandt
Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn
Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell
Rebecca Ferguson in an undisclosed role
Alec Baldwin as the Head of the CIA
Sean Harris in an undisclosed role
Simon McBurney in an undisclosed role
Zhang Jingchu in an undisclosed role

Mission: Impossible 5 lights the fuse July 31

I feel like the plot is the exact same one as the new James Bond movie, Spectre. Both deal with groups that are supposedly an equal match to the good guys. You know what, its also just like the Shield vs Hydra aspect, and I'm not saying its a bad thing.

ONE of the best. There were still guys like Ronnie Lott and Steve Atwater who absolutley KA-RUSHED anyone stupid enough to pick up a football in front of them. Troy Polamalu is one of the greats, though, and the Steelers are going to struggle trying to replace him (and his hair).
