If you would, please take a moment to revisit the Hydra scene from Ant-Man in your mind. We always knew Darren Cross wanted to use shrinking tech to nefarious ends, but I don't think any of us thought he would wind up selling the long-in-the-works Cross Particles (a replication of Hank Pym's own Pym Particles) to Hydra.
While that deal was halted and Ant-Man managed to put a stop to Yellowjacket, we briefly get to see Hydra higher-up Mitchell Carson making off with a vial of Cross Particles. While some immediately thought of Grant Ward, Hydra's newest leader, we now know that he never had the funds nor the resources to bring this to fruition. However, Kevin Feige did seemingly hint at a connection between the movie and the show. So how else could one affect the other?
If one reddit discussion is to be believed, the answer could be Gideon Malick. We learned in the recent episode "Many Heads, One Tale" that Baron Von Strucker has had a mini-Monolith locked in a vault, explaining the holes in the sides of the much larger Monolith that FitzSimmons traveled through. That Monolith is now destroyed, so Gideon's only hope of bringing their long lost Hydra-god back from Planet Maveth now lies in the miniature Monolith.
But as one can see, it is far too small for a whole person to travel through. This could be the reason why Hydra head Malick, with far more resources than Ward, would have wanted the Cross Particles. While it may seem bizarre to miniaturize people to go through it, they could always reverse-engineer the particles and make the Monolith bigger. We've all read the rumors of dispute between the TV and movie divisions of Marvel, so if they actually do go this route, it will be a huge feat.
Pretty neat, huh? It remains to be seen whether this theory holds any weight, but I imagine we'll find out by the mid-season finale, titled "Maveth." Be sure to let me know what you think in the comment section below! DO IT!
