AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM And BLACK ADAM Synopses Tease Unexpected Developments In Both DC Movies

Two new synopses for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and Black Adam have been released, both of which tease some unexpected and exciting developments in these corners of the expanding DC Extended Universe.

2021 was a quiet year for the DC Extended Universe, with only The Suicide Squad dropping in theaters (and on HBO Max). The next 12 months look set to be considerably more exciting, though, with Peacemaker, The Batman, Black Adam, The Flash, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and Batgirl all on the way.

Now, we have new synopses for two of those movies, both of which drop some fresh intel. In Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, it's said that "When an ancient power is unleashed, Aquaman must forge an uneasy alliance with an unlikely ally to protect Atlantis, and the world, from irreversible devastation."

An "unlikely ally"? There are two strong possibilities for who that could be: Black Manta or Ocean Master. We're betting on the latter seeing as behind-the-scenes photos have shown Orm freed from his prison (Black Manta is also expected to be the Aquaman sequel's lead villain following his 2018 introduction).

As for Black Adam, "Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods - and imprisoned just as quickly - Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world." Clearly, the anti-hero has been locked up for a long time, so it's no wonder he's seemingly looking for payback!

With 2022 shaping up to the most exciting year to date for the DCEU, it's going to be very interesting to see whether Warner Bros. can pull off a slate that's even more jam-packed than Marvel Studios' (in theaters, at least). Hopefully, all these movies are great, but only time will tell on that front.

Black Adam is set to be released on July 29, 2022. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will follow on December 16, later the same year.

These don't really seem to show anything too new from what we already know, but I think it's safe to say the heirachy of power in the DC Universe is about to change forever.

@Slifer151 - "the heirachy of power in the DC Universe is about to change forever." LOL He couldn't have known that quote would backfire so spectacularly when he said it! Can't wait for this movie! For many different reasons, but chief among them is to see if he makes good on that silly little quote.

@Slifer151 - The Rock could have said that better himself.

After his standout performance in Dune, I'm pretty hyped to see how Aquaman II shapes up, especially if Wan delves more into his horror roots.

Still hate the look of that "stealth suit"

@ElricReturns - I actuality really like it. Would live to see a short-hair , clean-shave look ....wearing the classic suit from previous movie or course

Modern world?

They don't mean the 21. century, right?

Because having the JSA in nowadays America sounds weird.

Also, the vibe of the past (WW1 or WWII) is pretty cool and not that common for cbm movies (Cap America, Marvel and WW are all I can think of).

@UXASIS - Yep, that's exactly what they mean. Warners gonna derp.

@UXASIS - I guess modern world could also be the 50s or 60s, since at that time their view of the world was also the ''modern'' world.

But yeah, it's probably the 21st century, given that it has an older Dr. Fate, Hawkman and a bunch of characters that came after the original members (like Atom Smasher came after Atom)

“When an ancient power is unleashed,”

My guess is he'll team up with Black Manta because of all the rumours surrounding a solo Black Manta project, they'll change him from villain to anti-hero the same way they're doing it with Black Adam, it's weird how the only characters in that universe that come across as villains now are Superman and Batman, if DC/WB made a movie about Civid-19 it'd be the story of an anti-hero virus with the heart of gold.

@ARMUS - its not, its Orm. Thats obvious from the BTS footage they released, you see him and Aquaman together.

The first Aquaman is like the most successful WB/DC movie of all time.

@TheCoonII

I don’t think there’s a huge crossover between Johnny Depp stans and Aquaman fans.

It will be in trouble if it loses China.

@billnye69 - Oh...well, then, you must be a DC hater, you Marvel/Disney shill...! Mephisto confirmed! Han shot first!
Sorry, that's all I got! 😜
I hope whoever reads this comment has a lovely holiday!
As hard as this season can be for some of us, just know that there is always someone to talk to. Someone who will listen to you during down times.
No matter the weight you may feel on your shoulders there is always someone who will help take some of that off.
As cliche as it sounds, we are all in this together & we need to look out for one another.

Happy Holidays to all!
