Aaron Taylor-Johnson Explains What Differentiates AOU's Quicksilver From The X-MEN's

When it was announced that both Fox's X-Men: Days Of Future Past and Marvel's Avengers: Age Of Ultron would feature the speedster Quicksilver, it was easy to be a little curious about how the whole situation would play out. Fortunately for fans everywhere, it looks like both iterations of the character have been handled fairly well. Last year, Evan Peters' scene-stealing version was met with rave reviews in the Bryan Singer-directed blockbuster, and after a few early screenings of the upcoming Joss Whedon-directed film, Aaron Taylor-Johnson's version seems like he'll be well-liked as well. Even though it's still too early for us to pass our own judgments, there have been a few early reactions claiming the X-Men's take on Quicksilver is a tad better, so take from that what you will.

Although, outside of a rumored deleted scene, one thing the X-Men's version didn't have that the Avengers' version does is his mind-bending twin sister, the Scarlet Witch, someone stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass) and Elizabeth Olsen (Liberal Arts) describe as absolutely essential to making Pietro who his is. Check out their comments in the video below:

Additionally, we have another video of Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man) discussing Spider-Man's impending introduction to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While he once again doesn't say much, he does say that Marvel's take on the character will defy expectations and that fans will be absolutely delighted to see which direction they take the character. Check out his comments below:

And RDJ has that politician non-answer speak on lock.

@Ryguy88 What's Quicksilver's personality like in this one? What does he look like? Does he have a sister who balances him out? What is his nationality?

I'm sorry, but having one aspect of the character right doesn't make your character good.

MCU Quicksilver >>>>>>> DOFP Quicksilver in terms of accuracy. The DOFP was only QS in name only, and they only added him after Whedon announced QS and SW for AOU.

One is still alive while the other is DOA

AOU Quicksilver from what's obvious is more iconically comic book accurate, both in appearance and characterization wise.

I'm really interested to see how they introduce Spider-Man into the MCU. Give that he's just a kid, that's gonna create an interesting dynamic with everyone else.

This is Quicksilver. A brash, impatient asshole. Not whatever the DOFP 'version' was.

Quicksilver had some awesome scenes in DOFP, but Marvel Studios' take on Quicksilver is closer to the comics.

Also, Scarlet Witch.

@Ryguy88 What I have seen though, is small tidbits and interviews where Taylor-Johnson talks about the character of Pietro, and he what he says lines up exactly with the source material. Unlike the name only DOFP version.

Hope that helps. :)

DOFP Quicksilver was nothing more than a plot device that was added in late production only out of spite to the competition.

Quicksilver's known for bring brash, over protective of his sister, arrogant and quick tempered.

What we got from DOFP is a playful kid with super speed.

It's Fox right to use the characters they purchased any time they want......... Only QS that exists, is the son of Magneto...... None of this rehashed inhuman Bullshit.

I'm truly surprised you guys are all ok with that since you guys always saying Marvel sticks to the source material! just realized Its its Marvel......they do no wrong.

I'd say the DOFP version was pretty arrogant, but yeah he was more fun than aggressive.

Anyways, both franchises are great and I'm glad we won't be seeing the same character twice. Who knows, maybe the one who is a little less like his comic book counterpart will end up being the better character!

@banesmash

Well, it was never set in stone that Magento was their biological father in the first place and that in itself is a retcon. And it never was said they were Inhumans either. High Evolutionary just said they've been masquerading as mutants. So I dunno where you got that info from.

And yes, Juggernaut was originally supposed to be the one that broke Magneto out of prison in DOFP. But Whedon announces QS first and then all of a sudden the plans change to have "QS" in the film instead.
