Aaron Taylor-Johnson Initially Questioned Need for "The Twins" In AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

"Just before I started Godzilla, I met Joss Whedon," revealed Aaron Taylor-Johnson to I Am Rogue of how The Avengers writer/director approached him to be in the sequel, Age of Ultron. "He said to me, 'Do you want to be in Avengers 2? There is a super hero I’m thinking of for you.' The thing for me was for him, 'Why add any more super heroes to this thing?' He said, 'No, there are these two characters that I want to bring in to like [frick] with the Avengers and not be just an add on.' He told me a little bit about the writing and I said that the only reason I would want to do it is if it is a character that can still stand out." The English actor continued, "You know, you’ve got five of the most awesome super heroes, ten I suppose, there are about ten Avengers now, and they are all movie stars. You’ve got such a huge cast, what the hell difference is it going to make if I come on the scene? So it was the character and that took about a year of going back and forth about it. It took a while but I’m super happy to be in that one."

Once again, Elizabeth Olsen addressed reuniting with her on-screen husband in Godzilla, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, to now playing his sister in Avengers: Age of Ultron. "We have a much more closer connection in Avengers actually," she reassured. "Because we play these twin brother and sister that never leave each other’s side. In Godzilla, the whole point is that we are apart. So it’s totally different, but nice to have known him and his family, and him as a person as well as an actor before doing that." Taylor-Johnson added, "It was like, lets try and make these characters so different. And it was cool to be playing Eastern European as well. So we are trying
to embrace that." Aaron Taylor-Johnson's mention that the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver will be Eastern European in Age of Ultron prompted I Am Rogue to ask him if he and Elizabeth Olsen are using accents while filming. "Yeah," he confirmed, "but they might [frick]ing ADR it out at the end, so who knows?" The Godzilla pair went on to confirm not only that they'll be shooting the Avengers sequel through the summer, but also that they'll be attending San Diego Comic-Con this July for the highly-anticipated movie. "I’ve done Comic-Con before but going there as an Avenger is a whole new thing," said Taylor-Johnson. Back to Elizabeth Olsen, she was asked about her first appearance as the Scarlet Witch in last month's Captain America: The Winter Soldier movie. While the Joss Whedon-directed mid-credit scene served as a great teaser for what's to come in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Olsen says she didn't read any of the feedback. "I just have one friend that works at Bad Robot, so she is on all these blogs all the time, and she’ll send me her favorites ones," she said. "She only sends me the good stuff but I like that people were stoked about our characters, and everyone was like, 'What are they? Who are they? What’s their excuse going to be because they can’t talk about X-Men?'" What do you think?

The Avengers: Age of Ultron stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Cobie Smulders, Jeremy Renner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, with Paul Bettany, Samuel L. Jackson, and James Spader. The film is set for release on May 1, 2015.

I would question it. Jeremy Renner and Hawkeye, so far, has been treated like absolute shit at Marvel.

Make it right Joss.

I can't seem to get used to the idea of having them on the movie roster. Should've got Panther or something.

As happy to have Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch in the movie I just hope the mutant thing isn't completely pushed aside I can just picture them being questioned about their abilities and being like "Oh we're just miracles"

Gonna seem a little weird with them playing lovers in Godzilla and then siblings in this one though.

That pic. That is some exaggerated running. A guy I work with runs like that....looks like a spider-monkey being attacked by bees.

I saw the mid-credits scene. I just don't get how they're gonna be used when they're not going to be considered mutants because of the movie rights. What's the point of having them if you can't use them properly.

6. Black Widow

8. Scarlet Witch
9. Vision

@ GL

Marvel can use them but not refer to them as mutants, but Marvel cannot really use any other characters from the X Men universe. SW and QuickSilver can be used due to being in the Avengers....

It is kind of frustrating because this should have been the bridge between X Men and Avengers.

I hope they do keep the accents. It will make them stand out more from the American Avengers and make them seem a little different. It'd give them a make mysterious quality.

@ Charlie and Joe, ooooohhh I see. Now I get it. It's a real shame they can't be shared or linked together all because of money. That's the only way I see it. The only reason why we'll never get a Ultimate Alliance movie is simply because of greed.

@ GL

Who knows maybe Marvel/Disney wanted to flex their muscles to FOX and Singer by using them. Or some can say Singer/FOX decided to give the finger to Marvel/Disney by putting QuickSilver in DOFP. At this point who cares............

I am more interested to see how they are going to shuffle around 10 Avengers, maybe a cameo from another, introduction to one of the 10 members (Vision), and Ultron.

I don't get the big deal some make of it if they can't refer to them as being mutants. If they have powers and use those powers, who cares if they actually use the word "mutant" or not to describe why they have their powers? Refer to them as special or whatever and have them do their thing. :-p

"There are about ten Avengers now." Wait is their another addition to the team we don't know about? The roster from Avengers contains 6 heroes. Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch makes 8. If Vision is joining the team that makes 9, so who's the other Avenger? Is War Machine an actually member of the Avengers in AoU instead of an ally? Maybe I'm reading to much into it.

GL - 5/6/2014, 9:47 AM
Knowing Whedon, he'll know how to manage 10 members and have each one feel unique in their own way. Maybe one or two might feel like a drag on, but it's bound to happen. It's no big deal, really. I'm happy just to see all these people together in live action.

I'm glad that Johnson did his homework and understood the role before he took it. So many actors these days take roles without thinking and then when the film flops they claim ignorance. I think the best example is Ryan Reynolds. I find it hard to believe that he thought very long before he signed on as Deadpool, Green Lantern, and then in RIPD.

Madame Hydra shows up in a Wolverine movie as a mutant, no one questions it.

Two longtime avengers show up in an Avengers movie without mention of their lineage, everyone loses their minds.
