According to MovieWeb, who recently bagged an exclusive interview with Anthony Mackie, it is looking very likely that Captain America's modern day winged side-kick will not be suiting up to take flight once again in the upcoming Avengers: Age Of Ultron, the sequel to 2012's The Avengers. Check out the interview below:

"(Laughs) I wish. Everybody says that but Kevin Feige. Chris is a good friend of mine. The movie starts in three weeks. I know he's read the script. He's like, 'Yo, man, I read the Avengers script. It's good.' I was like, 'Really?' He said, 'Yeah, Joss (Whedon) is doing rewrites, but it's good. I was like, 'Great! So... am I in it?' And he says, 'I've got to go. I'll be back.' What do you mean? Why can't you just tell me if I'm in the movie? No one will tell me, not one person, so I gave up on it."

Starring Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Cobie Smulders, Frank Grillo, Georges St-Pierre, Hayley Atwell, Toby Jones, Emily VanCamp and Maximiliano Hernández with Samuel L. Jackson and Robert Redford, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is directed by the team of Anthony & Joe Russo from a screenplay written by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is set for release on April 4, 2014.

This confirms NOTHING... The only thing this confirms is that unless some MAJOR plot elements change, he will be a minor character or have a cameo in the film at best. Marvel loves doing last minute cameos though, such as Chris Evan's "cameo" in Thor: The Dark World.

It says very unlikely that hes NOT going to be in the movie, fix the double negative. :D would be siCk to see him and war machine/iron patriot, its an avengers movie get as many heroes as they can fit, especially if they've already been introduced

Can we get a WEST-COAST AVENGERS movie or TV-show? Luke Cage, War Machine, Falcon, Eric O'Grady, Wasp?

so long as his absence is explained considering we have the team going up against Strucker and the Masters and then Ultron... I do have a feeling though that EVERYONE will be included in the showdown with Thanos in Avengers 3.

I hope he appears in it...he could just have a small cameo, gets hurt by Ultron, rest of the 'movie' recovering...so out of the picture per say...

I'd rather have War Machine and Lady Sif in Avengers 2 than Falcon. He can be in Avengers 3.

In avengers 3 I can see Iron patriot/war machine, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, ironman, The Twins, Falcon, Doctor Strange, Hawkeye, Widow all going up against Thanos in a final showdown lool

Booooooooooooooo! mistake Marvel!!! this is a great actor and a great character, I'm' sure there is a ton of good n A2 but no Falcon is a poor decision.

i'd rather have falcon than war machine/ red white blue attack dog, war machine is just a iron man rip off. much rather see falcon, but i'll be happy with war machine as long as he is war machine and not iron patriot.

batz11 - 3/13/2014, 12:05 PM

I'm willing to bet, after Falcon's appearance in CapTWS, he'll be written into AoU, even a small part...be stupid to leave him out...looks cool as [frick] and Mackie wants to do it!

...obviously, not a "solo" movie then, but you know what I mean, haha

SauronsBANE - 3/13/2014, 12:08 PM
If this stays true, that's really unfortunate. From a couple writers on other sites that have seen The WInter Soldier already, Falcon and Cap's friendship is one of the highlights of the entire MCU, not just that movie.

I hope he doesn't appear in AoU. They need to build up the team from when the current Avengers roster contracts end. If they stat Avengers 3 or 4 with a whole new team, that would suck. Build up new members so we can have a gradual change.

Same line has been uttered before many a gang-bang film

Figured this already. It was only explained in the comic, but War-Machine wasn't in Avengers. Just don't expect the sidekicks to be in the team flicks.

They need to do a "Secret Avengers" movie after the 3rd Avengers. All new team with mentions of the regular team. Maybe have Tony or Cap show up on a monitor or something.

I agree if his absence is explained then great. Also can we stop with the tie in comic and just make more Marvel one shots instead.
