EDITORIAL: What Happens To The Twins & Vision After AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON?

Many people are eagerly awaiting the appearance of Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and Vision in Avengers: Age of Ultron. But a significant question remains- what happens to them after that?

I don’t speak lightly when I say that Avengers: Age of Ultron could be the biggest CBM ever. It’s certainly one of the most anticipated. Building off the success of a 1 ½ billion dollar mega-blockbuster, starring some of the biggest names in Hollywood, pitting 10 of Marvel’s finest against one of the biggest villains in Marvel Comics, and directed by a man who is heralded as geek royalty, AOU has no lack of fan and audience anticipation behind it. One of the many reasons fans are awaiting the film with bated breath is the inclusion of a trio of fan favourite heroes- Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and Vision.
Played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Godzilla, Kick-Ass), Elisabeth Olsen (Godzilla, Oldboy) and Paul Bettany (Iron Man trilogy, The Da Vinci Code) respectively, this trio actually have an interesting thing in common- they all started out as villains. Wanda and Pietro originally were members of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants (back when villainous organisations wore their ‘Evil’ labels with pride) along with their father Magneto, but eventually defected to the side of good. Vision was created by Ultron to hunt down and kill the Avengers, but grew enamoured with Earth’s Mightiest and eventually joined the team.
We know that all three are signed on to multi-picture contracts, which begs the question- what happens to them after AOU? They join the Avengers, kick Ultron’s robot backside and then what? In an effort to answer this question, I’ve come up with three possible futures for the Twins and Vision after Avengers: Age of Ultron. Let’s get started.
  1. Captain’s Orders

Recently, there have been rumours that AOU will end with Captain America assembling his own team of Avengers, which would include the likes of Hawkeye, Black Widow and supposedly Ms Marvel. If this is true, then it makes sense that Wanda, Pietro and Vision would be included in said team as well. They have no particular ties to any other Avengers, so it seems likely they would join Coulson’s new SHIELD or something along with Cap’s new Avengers squad. I’d love to see ‘Cap’s kooky quartet’ (Cap, Hawkeye, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch) assembled on screen.
        2. We Stand Alone

I’ve stated in previous articles that we know next to nothing about Marvel’s Phase 3. So, we must accept the possibility that perhaps the lineup isn’t set in stone yet, maybe because Marvel are waiting to see how characters in AOU are received. If this is true, then maybe if this trio are well received by the public, they may be up for their very own stand-alone film. I understand this is something of a long-shot, but ATJ and Olsen are rising stars- and what could help them gain star power faster than appearing in a massive Marvel blockbuster, then headlining their own massive Marvel blockbuster? Plus, while not being an A-list star, Bettany is a well-established actor with a diverse career who could draw in viewers. I have very little idea what this movie could be about or who the villain might be (HYDRA? AIM?) , but that’s a subject for a different article.
  1. Small-Screen Adventures
The Marvel universe has begun expanding onto the silver screen. Season 2 of Agents of Shield debuts later this month, Agent Carter will air in January and Marvel’s first Netflix show Daredevil will hit computer screens near you around Spring 2015. So, there might be a possibility that the twins & Vision won’t get a big-screen solo outing, but could instead have their adventures on the small screen. Now I realise this would cost a ton, but if there’s one thing Marvel doesn’t lack, it’s money. There was originally a plan to have legendary filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro develop a series centred around the Hulk, but these plans were scrapped in favour of Agents of SHIELD. Seriously Marvel, what the hell? If they can afford to do something like that, they could definitely afford a show about the Twins and Vision. I imagine it would be like a mix between Heroes and The X-Files- the trio would go around fighting crime and various alien threats whilst also struggling to control their powers and fitting in with normal society.

Anyway, that’s it from me for now. Agree with my suggestions? Have any of your own? Let me know in the comments below. Live long and prosper!

The real question is:

How do I bang the three Olsen girls simultaneously?

Good stuff again man.

I personally see them as Hawkeye/BW types, joining the heroes in random adventures. I would love for a standalone movie starring the twins, obviously (refer to username), but I don't think they're as marketable as the others. But I'll keep my fingers crossed for a successful first outing.

I'm really excited to see how they can continue to integrate the characters into the universe. They're not gonna have a stand alone movie but I think they're interesting enough to be pretty great supporting characters and will definitely be a great bridge to the Inhumans movie.

I hope so!

i just thought would a actor signing for marvel agree to 1 tv appearance in a potential contract. that way we could see some of the heroes from the films appear once or twice on the small screen. i think it would really help bring the MCU closer together.

Do we know how many pics they're signed up for?
And remember, Russo's said mad people will be in Cap 3 as he makes his own team. No reason these guys can't be on that.

I think it's likely Vision turning on Ultron will result in him being injured to the point of him going into self-repair mode at Avengers Towers. Doubt we'll see him again until Avengers 3.

The twins, probably Captain America 3.
