Filming for The Avengers: Age of Ultron is gearing up for its last week in Johannesburg, South Africa, before the production moves north to Italy. While the Marvel sequel's “action photography sequences” have been filmed quietly this past week, we've received word that things got a bit more enthralling and… green over the weekend, or Friday. “I could see some sort of action scene where Hulk was battling someone but not too sure who was it,” a local, Ismail Ebrahim ‏, informed CBM. “I could make it out clearly because they use a huge green head whenever they're filming Hulk scenes. …They used a guy dressed normally but had on a backpack with 2 iron poles holding up hulk's chest upwards and then he was doing whatever he had to do… scaring the people. By the looks of it, Hulk will probably play a major role in the Johannesburg shoot.”

Irfaan Ebrahim adds that the Hulk gets thrown into trucks and there are lots of people, extras, fleeing away from the Green Goliath. Beyond who or what the Hulk is battling against, this scene raises some other questions. With the first 10 minutes of The Avengers: Age of Ultron said to be taking place in Johannesburg, South Africa, could this mean we'll see the Hulk in full glory from the get-go, as opposed to his mild-mannered alter-ego Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo)? Maybe. It's also possible that the Marvel sequel's climatic sequence could return to Johannesburg, during which this particular scene could take place. Regardless, don't expect to see the principal cast members in costume anytime soon as it has also been reported that the stars won't commence principal photography until April, and they won't be shooting outside of the United Kingdom. This applies especially to whatever will be filmed in Italy next month. What do you think?

It's probably a lesser villain (Abomination?) just used for the opening action scene.

Right of the bat we're getting some Hulk action. This movie is already shaping up to be better than its predecessor.

it would be great to see an updated version cgi wise of the abomination, remember how much better the hulk looked in the avengers when compared to the incredible hulk.

the abomination needs this treatment.

Once again, just throw out a Marvel villain just to get them out there in the world. We don't need a origin story for the character. Hell, the movie should open up with them fighting the Wrecking Crew (God I want them in a movie sooooo bad).

You can go into detail about how they got power in another movie down the line, but at least introduce them by showing them.

Gonna be interesting with Empire Strikes Back and Godfather part 2, especially Godfather part 2 being influences on Age of Ultron. Black Widow has a big role as well as Hawkeye, Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America (events of The Winter Soldier), struggles of becoming a team, what the world views and thinks of them. Then throw in how they're going to include Thor, Von Strucker, Vision, a possible Wakanda appearance, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and whatever Ultron has going on. I doubt it will be but if it manages to be 3 hours or at least really close to it, I'll be happy. I have a feeling yhis will be the best superhero sequel ever.. with a side of epic. Just a hunch. The roles Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye have make me very curious as well as Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver's involvment.

Can we get sequel to TIH please? I want to see how well Mark Ruffalo can do with carrying the weight of a solo hulk movie. And PLEASE acknowledge TIH as part of the MCU.

wait, isnt baron von strucker the villain in the beginning of the film it ouwld be cool if we see the avengers fighting seperate villains at the beginning of the film( besides tony, since he is iron man anymore) we cap ,black widow and hawkeye fight baron von strucker and hydra, hulk fighting another villain etc.

How does Black Panther play into the scene though? I mean, you know? It was SHOT in Africa after all.

Why do people assume this is the opening scene ? Films are not always filmed in correct order you know... Also I think this will have nothing to do with Black Panther

I seriously hope it's the opening scene. What better way to begin one of the most anticipated sequels ever than by showing a rampaging Hulk in full glory??

@AlexanderLykins

Marvel Studios promises more Hulk & Hawkeye in AOU.

I would love to see this movie go 2 hrs 45 min.

that's plenty of running time to introduce:

-Quicksilver
-Scarlet Witch
-Vision

As for the main stars:

-Iron Man (same)
-Hulk (more of him)
-Cap (same or less)
-Thor (same or less)
-Hawkeye (more of him)
-Back Widow(same)
-Falcon (5-10 minutes)
-War Machine (rumored, but 5-10 min.)

@highflyer Stark appears in TIH and Banner mentions his destruction of Harlem in AVENGERS. What other acknowledgement that TIH is part of the MCU is needed? A cameo by Liv Tyler or William Hurt?

@Jarvis21 We don't know if the entire South Africa shoot is the first 10 minutes of A:AOU. It was only said that Johannesburg will be in the first 10 minutes. That could mean the 1st 10 minutes in addition to a part in the climatic sequences. Plus, Marvel plans to shoot in other parts of the province; not just Johannesburg.

@siggisuperman The shoot has been called the opening scene by various sources, including Johannesburgs film commission, but it's possible they misunderstood first scenes to be shot with first scenes in the movie.
