James Spader's AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON Villain Has 'Extreme' Attitude and Personality

Promising “more than just a peek” at The Avengers: Age of Ultron in tomorrow's ABC documentary, Kevin Feige praises Joss Whedon & James Spader's take on the titular villain! Check it out after the jump

Another hour, another update from Mr. Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige. When Movies.com recently asked him about the Marvel Studios: Assembling a Universe documentary special, which airs on ABC at 8pm tomorrow, and how much of The Avengers: Age of Ultron will we get to see, the producer reassured that we're in for something special. “They're advertising it as a first look, and that is an honest statement,” he said. “We don't start filming for another week and a half, so you're not going to have a lot of first-unit footage because it doesn't exist yet. But you certainly get more than just a peek at some of the new fun things we have in store.” He adds, “Introducing the new characters is going to be a lot of fun for the movie. That ever-changing roster is very important in the Avengers comics, and so how do we start to play with that [on the screen]?”

Kevin Feige also seemed quite enthusiastic about The Avengers sequel's titular villain, Ultron, and what actor James Spader and writer/director Joss Whedon are doing with the sentient robot.
“Our bad guy is great,” he declared. “I think people are going to very, very excited to see what we're doing with the voice that Joss [Whedon] is bringing to life with James Spader for Ultron. We love Ultron from the comics, and have always loved Ultron, and at no point do we want him to just be a robot. We want him to have an extreme personality and attitude, and James Spader is doing an unbelievable job. Again, for us it's always about subverting expectations. Whenever you think you know what's coming next, we surprise people or deliver it in a slightly unexpected way. And Spader is doing that with Mr. Ultron.” What do you think?

The Avengers: Age of Ultron stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Cobie Smulders, Jeremy Renner, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, with Paul Bettany, Samuel L. Jackson, and James Spader. The film is set for release on May 1, 2015.

Avengers 2 will be hard to top The Avengers because the excitement of them coming together has sooth down. But now we actually get to dive into the journey of the characters. Watch them evolve. I'm so excited fir this movie. Thinking about it makes me mad we have little over a year until it's out. But the wait WILL be worth it.

I have faith that Whedon will do Ultron justice seeing that he originally wanted to do the first avengers film featuring the character. If you watch The Avengers more than often you see that Loki's villainy was just for pure entertainment. Not saying that we needed to feel sorry for him with a sad soapy theme but his intentions were just "'meh" "You were made to be ruled!" Umm..yeah, so what happens after that? lol

Ultron is a character capable of being a cyber threat to the face of the entire globe. Which explains why the film is more global this time around. You'll need more than just muscle and powers to beat the guy. You also have to have the intelligence factor down packed. I'm really glad vision is arriving and I'm overjoyed to see that Hulk and a few other characters are said to have "bigger" roles this time around.

I've been recording James Spader's voice and editing it using this pretty cool voice changer app on my iPad. I used multiple robot or cyber effects on his voice and it sounds beautiful man. His performance is one that I'm really looking forward to out of all the other characters.

James Spader is going to kill as Ultron! Love him on The Blacklist, so this was great affirmation from Kevin.

I would like to see/hear Ultron's message to mankind ("Hello, organic children of the planet Earth. I am the Ultron interface. I was created to replace you. Though you ultimately failed as a species, you should not be ashamed of what you've accomplished. You've done much with your limited capacity, but ultimately you were too greedy and too frail to ever last in the environment you've created. I've studied your literature and pop culture. You've fantasized about this day. And now it is here. Your Doomsday!")

Something like Zod did in Man of Steel.
