My Personal Prediction For AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

My Personal Prediction For AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON

With the final trailer released, theories, rumors and predictions are inescapable. Continue on to read my take on what I believe may happen in Marvel Studios' upcoming sequel to The Avengers.

Editorial Opinion
By TheGambitFreak - Mar 07, 2015 08:03 AM EST
Let me begin by first saying that I am typing this at and around 7 o'clock in the morning. And I have not slept in about 30 hours (Training for AMC's Ultimate Marvel Movie Marathon, I suppose). So, should any of this you're about to read sounds ludicrous, contain incorrect grammar or information, please excuse my idiocracy.

Below are bullet points that have led me to my prediction for the result of Age of Ultron. Please make a mental note of these.

COMICS
  • In Mark Millar's Civil War, Thor, whom is "deceased", is cloned by Tony Stark (Ironically enough, this clone's name is Ragnarok). Whether this plays into the MCU is unsure. I figure I should just point this out.
  • Valhalla is Asgard's version of Heaven. Asgard's fallen heroes, legends and the Allfather himself reside here after death to unite together for Ragnarok.
  • Ragnarok is Marvel's version of the apocalypse. It is the end-all of battles. In this event, Midgard is said to be stricken with earthquakes.
MOVIES
  • Joss Whedon has been quoted multiple times for saying that the ending of Age of Ultron will leave Earth's Mightiest Heroes in distraught.
  • According to the leaked scene from Comic Con showcasing an arguement between Steve and Tony, Scarlet Witch has shown all, or almost all of our heroes visions. Tony having seen an apocalyptic future, Thor having diappeared, etc.
  • In the trailer, we see Thor in a body of water, pressumably in a cave, with at least 2 mysterious females (I am guessing this is where he disappeared to).
  • With the confirmation that Jeremy Renner is set to be in CA:CW, this means all cast members from Avengers are set to appear, except Hulk and Thor.
SUMMARY

These films are known for at least following the core story of the comics. Age of Ultron predominantly looks to take from Ultron Unlimited and very small hints from Civil War.  In the comics, Thor dies, and joins his father, brothers and fellow warriors of the 9 realms in Valhalla to fight in Ragnarok. In the movies, we know that Odin is presumably dead (Thor: The Dark World) and that according to the Comic Con footage leaked, a scene (Which I guess to be Tony's vision he recieves from Scarlet Witch), shows our heroes fallen as a  crying Tony Stark kneels before them in what appears to be a hellish location (Remember, in the comics, the events of Ragnarok are said to desecrate Midgard with earthquakes). Now what could have our Avengers in a state of anxiety and agony by the end of this film? Especially considering that by the end, Ultron is assumed to be defeated and our heroes having saved the day. In Ultron Unlimited, by the time Thor utters his famous "We would have words with thee," millions of lives are lost thanks to Ultron and his copies. But something  tells me more with happen by the end, besides the obvious tension between Tony and Steve to set up our next film. What causes this schism between them? Tony already tried creating a global police force with Ultron, so that in the future fewer lives would be lost. Why would he feel the need to side with the government in attempt to have all superheroes give up their identities?  After all, we know he has a distaste for government, as clearly seen in Iron Man 2. Is it due to innocents dying because of him, including friends? What did Thor see when Scarlet put her hex on him? His wicked brother ruling over Asgard? Valhalla? Ragnarok? What would have The God of Thunder so scared that he'd leave his friends at a critical time of danger? Doesn't seem too far fetched that'd it'd be Ragnarok. I mean, let's not forget that it is the subtitle for Thor 3...

PREDICTION

So here it is. Taking all of the above into consideration, I believe Thor will die in Age of Ultron. You heard it here first. His death will serve in part as Tony's decision to start the Superhuman Registration Act and will begin the journey into Thor: Ragnarok, where he will unite with his father against Surtur. Now forgive me, for I have tried avoiding Marvel's big comic events, so I do not remember how Thor comes back after being in Ragnarok, but my guess is, he will return by the time Infinity War rolls around cause, as with all comic book plot devices, it will possibly deal with time travel or what have you. So there you go. That is my prediction; Thor will kick the bucket in Age of Ultron. By whom's hands? We'll just have to wait and see.

So what do you think? Am I absolutely, 100% off course on this prediction? Is it as wrong as my theory on how I thought Black Widow would die in the first Avengers? Or have I maybe, just maybe blown all of your minds for a second? Sound off in the comments, let me know!

I can see that happening along with Hulk being flown to space somehow. That would set up the more dramatic phase 3 and the need for the MCU to start introducing so many new heroes. This with Cap possibly handing the shield over or passing in CA:CW would make the entire MCU seem defenseless vs Thanos which everyone and their grandmamas is waiting for. I would only want Thor to be able to come back for Infinity War pt 1 with Hulk and Cap returning for IW pt 2.

Well some is supposed to die, and right now the candidates are Thor, Hulk, Quicksilver, War Machine, or Maria Hill. Thor makes the most sense for the future of the MCU, so yeah good theory.

This is the same thing I was thinking.

I do believe that Hulk is shot off world by Tony Stark, and this will set him up to be the main villain in Avengers:Infinity War Part 1 which would adapt the World War Hulk storyline. I'm almost 99.9% sure this is what will happen.

@OscarMadeJoker

I agree, I think that's how it's gonna go down.

I still think Vision might die. We already have a connection to him through JARVIS, I imagine his plot-points will revolve around him learning about being alive, he'll probably have some kind of connection to Scarlet Witch, whether it's romantic or just platonic (I doubt Whedon would introduce those two characters in the same movie without acknowledging their relationship), and thus his death (probably sacrificing himself to destroy Ultron) could have a surprising amount of emotion behind it.

@OscarMadeJoker considering all the drones in AOU are part of Ultron, you're probably right about the army all dying out simultaneously at the end when the main villain is destroyed, Phantom Menace style like the first movie.

Actually yeah, come to think about it they do seem to be heavily suggesting mind control will play a part in the movie. And in-fighting between the Avengers... And there is another identical CGI army...
We're getting the same movie again, aren't we?
...I hope they don't spend half the movie fixing an engine this time.

AC1- i imagine the drones will be defeated by an EMP (or whatever it is the avengers are protecting in the trailer) then they see ultron is still there due to vibranium and EMP shielding, they all desperately try to beat him but cant due to the vibranium and that is when the vision sacrifices himself to beat him (although vision will be back after all he is a machine they can just build him a new body like in EMH).

I don’t think Vision is going to die or be shut down per se. I honestly don’t think any of the big four will make it thru the next two movies intact. It would add so much more tension and drama knowing that Thanos is coming without the originals there to protect us. Thor will die in this movie. Hulk will be shot into space by Ultron. Cap will be murdered by Crossbones in Civil War and Tony will quit seeing everything that has happened. The new guys (Vision, Strange, Spidey, Panther, and Marvel) will step up for their individual movies and Infinity War pt 1 and the big guys will return for pt 2.

@TheGambitFreak

Last night on a now deleted post about Renner appearing in Civil War, a few folks and I discussed Thor potentially "dying" in Age of Ultron too.

In scenes from the trailers Thor and this unknown woman, are clearly in the same location, possibly Wakanda. Which leads most folks to think the woman is someone from Wakanda...

However, I think it's possible she could actually be Death...

If you like my theory and think it fits with your ideas, you're welcome to include it, and these images, in your post.

It's so painfully obviously Thor is going to die. At this point, I'll be shocked if it doesn't happen.
