This Wednesday, Hawkeye will premiere on Disney+ with its first two episodes. Ten years after Jeremy Renner made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Clint Barton in Thor, it's fitting that he's now set to receive the spotlight. Of course, we're expecting the Avenger to pass the mantle to Kate Bishop!
While time will tell on that front, Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development Andy Park has now shared his final design for Hawkeye that was approved in 2010 for The Avengers.
"This was the first time I got to design [Hawkeye]. It was for The Avengers way back in 2010," the artist recalls in the post below. "[Ryan Meinerding] did an initial pass that was well received and then I was able to take it home with this final design. I remember liking this design and thinking that it was the right way to go for the MCU...but I did honestly wish I was able to incorporate purple as that was the color I associated with him from the years I read Marvel Comics as a kid."
It's amazing to see how much the MCU has changed; this design, clearly inspired by Bryan Hitch's work in The Ultimates, was arguably the best direction to take Hawkeye in ten years ago. Now, though, Marvel Studios is able to embrace the comic books, hence why the archer is wearing a lot more purple in the upcoming TV series.
