...and when you come down from your epic high you will know what I say is true

Avengers Assemble! Pictures, Images and Photos

You have read the reviews which are overwhelmingly positive for the Avengers. It is sitting pretty with 93% on Rotten Tomatoes which is a damn good place to be (although TDK is 94%). Joss Whedon has executed a nearly flawless comic book movie...but I reiterate 'nearly', my friends, because this movie is not without flaw. This may hurt at first, but one day, when the epicness wears off, and we all come down from this unprecedented high, you will know that what I say is true. I am not a Nolanite, or a Nolanite spy come to rain on your parade. I am a Marvel guy, and a steadfast Whedonite since I first laid eyes on Firefly. My problems with the Avengers are as follows:

1)Captain America's suit. It was was embarrassing and unnecessary. The helmet looked ridiculous. The bright blue polyester with bright red moon boots and moon gloves? Why? There were moments when he was wearing the bright blue weird outfit and everyone else is sitting around in their brown and navy blue street clothes. Coulson tried to explain to Steve and the audience why he should wear it, but it still didn't make sense. They weren't fighting Nazis, or Al Quaida, or any foreign nation. I'm sorry Chris Evans, you should have had military fatigue pants, combat boots, Blue and grey top with star. Similar to this:

ultimate

2)Weird camera angle shots. These were mostly towards the beginning of movie with the camera looking up from Sam Jackson's shoes. This reminded me of (and I am so sorry) Michael Bay. Not so much Transformers, think circa Bad Boys.

(and why does Nick Fury dress like Shaft. Shouldnt he wear something slightly military?

3)The Other looked like a character out of Power Rangers (admit it) and the cheesy villain voice in the cheesy looking negative zone. I expected more.

4) And the Chitauri. I get that their role were to be goons that our superheroes could flex their muscle on; but could there not have been a couple of elite Chitauri that had superior skill sets, that were more formidable, that look cooler than the rest(think Spike from Gremlins or Boba Fett).

5) enough with the blue laser beams. its been done. it looks cheesy and...and just stop.

6) too much stark playing with holographic computer images with his hands. It was cool in Minority Report. Its played out now.

Anyway, those are my 6 minor complaints. My next article will be the 1001 things that I loved about the Avengers. ENjoy hating on this article, but do try to rise to a decent level of respect with your comments.

I'm sorry but hat i the shit are you going on about?

I wouldn't consider any of these "flaws". They are just personal dislikes about particular elements within the movie.

A "flaw" would be inconsistent plot points. Or bad editing. You not liking Cap's uniform isn't a flaw. It's personal taste. Having seen some of the concept are I feel they could have left the ears out, and it looking ok, but the qualified designers know what was and wasn't going to work.

There are plenty of minor things that I didn't like but the person next to me, probably, loved them. It takes nothing away from how good the movie is.

Nice sneaky mention that TDK is currently sitting higher...Nolanite ;-P

this is just nitpicking, and what you would have preferred in the movie, i see nothing wrong with cap's suit, or the camera angles etc...dont understand why ppl have to nitpick on such a great movie. As far as this movie being compared to Transformers? Avengers blows that out of the water.

btw TDKR is beating avengers in ratings is because it hasnt been released yet, we will see how critics and users critique TDKR when it comes out. For now its just a number next to TDKR nothing more, nothing less.

Yeah, well... That's just like your opinion, man. None of these points can be seen as "objective truth". I say that because of your article's description "you will know what I say is true" (which is repeated twice). Because things don't suit your personal taste don't make them officially objective remarks that all rational people should acknowledge. If you want to nitpick, sure... Knock yourself out. Some people may agree with you, sure... As for me, I didn't have any problem with the movie whatesoever. For instance, I love Cap's suit and Tony holding holograms never gets old for me. Saw it 5 times and to me it's perfect for the kind of movie it sets out to be. But that's my own goddamn opinion. So pretty please: stop with the "what I say is true" and the "admit it". Sincerly. Peace!

You sir are a moron. If these nit picking, personal peeves were enough for you to dislike the movie or even to call it flawed then you need to stop watching CBMs altogether...you will never be happy so why torture yourself? The movie was beautifully done and the only thing I could have asked for and didn't get would be the hulkbuster armor for Iron Man...and I'm not even upset it wasn't there...maybe next time or maybe not, either way it did not impact my enjoyment one bit. Your complaints are as empty as your words and I'm shocked you got to post this lame article on this awesome website. Good Day Sir!

The only nit picky thing I had was, they mentioned Jane Foster, had pepper potts in there and selvig but no where was there a mention of why the other super-armored character wasn't around? It's fine War machine wasn't there but to have no mention of Rhodey was a gaffe.

These aren't flaws, this is personal taste, your opinion that you are passing off as certain fact.

lmao, blue lasers... really?

I agree with Tea more than the reviewer. Seems more like personal opinions than any real 'problem'.

I too had some nitpicks, but none of them put this movie in a negative light for me. Certainly not enough to dedicate an article to them!

Each of you are correct that these minor complaints are personal opinion as opposed to flaws. bad choice of words.

Believe me, if I had set out to do a full review, it would have been overall positive, but there were already too may of those.

Crap, Tea, and Yossarian, I always respect your opinions

These are substantial flaws. Nothing heavy enough to ruin the film, however. Well-- the cinematography was pretty awful. They had to pillar box our auditorium for the 1.85:1 aspect ratio. And Fury needs to lose coat.

The Chitauri were fine. The blue laser beams were cool-- the constant blasting gave me a headache (I was in the cinema for 12 priora for the Marvel Marathon). The Other's scenes were hard to make out and reminded me of Green Lantern...

careful 3D, bordering on blasphemy there with the Green Lantern comment lol.

This isn't a review. It's just you bitching about stupid shit that doesn't take away anything from a movie that a lot of people loved. And why even mention TDK? I love that movie but it has absolutely nothing to do with The Avengers. Nice try, troll.
Ghostt
Ghostt - 5/12/2012, 8:41 PM
calm down @TexasAvenger. I'm not trolling. This was never supposed to be a full review. My overall review would be positive. I didn't do that because it had been done and was boring. These are minor complaints (see last paragraph of article).

I love the movie, and I am sorry I didn't make that more clear in the article (I admit the article is poorly written).

BTW, its okay to love a movie and have dislikes with certain things in the movie. I stand by my complaints, but in hindsight I should have balanced my dislikes with my likes and people wouldn't be overreacting.

You should rewrite this article or just delete it lol. These are just annoying nit-picky opinions (blue lasers REALLY?), not legitimate flaws that take away from a movie. Although one point I agree with is 4. A small squad of "Elite Chitauri" would've actually been pretty cool.

@AsgardianGangsta

You say I'm nitpicky and should delete the article, but yet you admit to having at least 1 of the same complaints. Read most of the other users comments and you will see that most everybody does have their own complaints, some they share with me, some differ from mine.

I said in the article that the movie was "near flawless". My minor complaints did not ruin the movie for me. But I am no sheep; do not expect me to sit back and say every single thing about the movie was perfect. I promise you Whedon does not think it is perfect and has his own complaints about the movie.
