Executives at Warners, DC and Mattel praise developing titles BATMAN: UNLIMITED and DC SUPER FRIENDS. These will be synergistic projects with animated videos, toys, games, apps, etc.

As reported in Variety today, fans of BATMAN and SUPER FRIENDS can look forward to videos, toys and more:

BATMAN: UNLIMITED will feature Batman, Nightwing, Red Robin, Green Arrow and Flash, with the Pinguin and cyber animals as the villains. This property will be based around a Mattel Batman toy line including figurines, vehicles, and playsets. Supporting videos are currently projected to consist of at least two direct to video features and 22 two-minute shorts.

DC SUPER-FRIENDS will be a series of 15 three-minute animated shots based on figurines, vehiles and playsets from Fisher-Price. No word yet on exactly which heroes or villains will feature.

Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) will over see these projects and co-license role-playing games, apps for smart phone and tablet, apparel and costumes, etc., in addition to the figurines, playsets and vehicles directly supporting the video releases.

“We are excited to continue to forge new ground with our long-time partners Mattel and Fisher-Price to build on the success of these popular toy lines by bringing the play pattern to life through this original content that we will be able to offer across multiple content platforms,” said Brad Globe, president, Warner Bros. Consumer Products.

DC Entertainment president Diane Nelson enthused, “We are thrilled to be working with our Warner Bros., Mattel and Fisher-Price colleagues to create new Batman and DC Super Friends kids’ content.”

“Our longstanding collaboration with WBCP has given Mattel the opportunity to engage fans of all ages with the very best in DC Comics Super Hero play,” Doug Wadleigh, senior VP and general manager, Mattel Toy Box also praised the deal.

Marvel and WB both had a great thing going with Avengers: EMH and Young Justice, but they screwed that up

@batmannightwingrobin, actually 26 episodes of Beware the Batman were made. The whole thing is on iTunes and Amazon instant video. But you'd have to pay for it. It's really very good, except for about three episodes right in the middle.

I agree that Avengers: EMH was good and didn't need to be replaced. But the new one has grown on me over the months.

I do miss Young Justice, Green Lantern, the real Teen Titans and everything else Bruce Timm, DeWayne McDuffy, and Glen Murukami touched over at WB Animation.

They should make a DC animated original movie that takes place after season 2 of Young Justice(I haven't finished season yet but I heard there is an unresolved conflict, and the show got cancelled, so please no spoilers if you reply). Also, the show was honestly too good to be true, and I'm not bashing DC here, but I would rather watch their good cartoons and their animated movies than their live action ones, including future releases, that is how much DC rocks in this department, but sadly they are struggling with their animated television for quite some time; hopefully we get a consistently good show from, and one that actually goes on for many seasons.

@batmannightwingrobin, I know how you feel! I've been forced to get my animation fix from 'Spider-man' and 'Avengers' on DisneyXD. Arrrrg! DisneyXD also runs 'Phineas and Ferb' as well as 'Star Wars Rebels,' so they have at least some cred...

@batmannightwingrobin, I've watched my DVDs of the Justice League series three times in the last decade. I don't want to get tired of them. I think YJ lost it's way in the middle of the second season with that whole Aqualad undercover/ Blue Beetle/Reach plot, but other than those 8 or so episodes, it's top of the line. I loved seeing Kyle Rayner stories from Green Lantern Corps comics made over for GLtas. I only wish that Kyle had been the hero of the ones where the space princess's brother kills Green Lanterns.
